The Lemonheads follow up the critically acclaimed Varshons from nearly ten years ago with another eclectic collection of covers. Produced by director Matthew Cullen and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Beastie Boys, Nirvana, The Ramones), their tenth studio album brims with the slowly-matured vocal of Evan Dando as he lures a host of personal faves to his melodic lair. He really has become one of the great expressive singers of our time.

Dando returns with another wonderful collection of covers.
Dando returns with another wonderful collection of covers. His voice is still great. The record checks all the Lemonheads boxes: shambolic, pretty pop. It is bittersweet, for sure. Even though the album should be judged on its own, in Dando’s case, it’s difficult because, though he is loaded with talent, he’s only mustered two records of original material in the 2000s and four total (I don’t count Hotel Sessions because it was recorded in the 90s)...the last two records are all covers. I would love to hear a collection of original material. The only song I didn’t dig was the Eagles cover. Who needs another Eagles cover? Not me. The vinyl pressing is quiet and sounds crisp. My sleeve is a scratch n sniff that really does smell like a banana. Ha! Kinda hokey...but somehow perfect...

A far more laid back album from Evan Dando
Compared to Vashons 1, this album is much more laid back and less complex. I expect it to grow on me as I listen but don’t expect a continuation of the first Varshons. Mastering is quite good and the vinyl edition represents what audiophiles seek from such a medium quite well.

Great album
It’s another great cover album by the lemonheads. My only wish is that I wish the lemonheads would put out a original album.

Solid if not as good as 1
This very much feels like the continuation of "Varshons," Dando's first covers record, in a good way. Despite a lack of new material from him, he still presents himself as a brilliant re-interpreter of other people's music; the quintessential rock 'n' roll tour guide. Although he's more like the alt. country-rock'n'roll-pop-other tour guide. Point is Dando rules at introducing you to artists you've likely never heard of and letting you know why they should be taken seriously, too. Personal faves are "TAQN," "Straight to You" and "Old Man Blank."

Solid cover album that actually feels like a nice original album to me
Really enjoying this album so far! Other than maybe 2 songs I could do without, everything else sounds fantastic. I’m not really familiar with any of these songs (except Take it Easy), so they sound like new Lemonheads songs to me. Good recordings that showcase Evan’s awesome voice.
