Fiskars is fabulous as always
I've had a Fiskars slide paper trimmer for years and I love it. It is accurate and the cuts are crisp and neat. With the thickness and fiber content of the paper I selected for the bands on my wedding invitations, the blade was snagging and tearing my paper. I hoped this trimmer would work better and it does not disappoint. The rotary style blade glides right over the sheet and leaves a clean, crisp cut. With the self-sharpening blade, the 100th cut is just as precise as the first. Speaking of precise, I was able to trim 1/8 inch accurately. That is not always the case with the slide style trimmer (sometimes I get lucky). This trimmer is durable, I dropped it when I was relocating a stack of projects and supplies. No damage at all.

Fiskars 12" Bypass Teimmer
I purchase this rotary cutter bc (it says)1. The blade never needs replace,2. I cut a lot of card stock (cs) and printer paper. (thought this would be perfect for that).3. Being a rotary cutter, I figured it would be better for me, as my hand was injured, and not much strength in it now. And...4. It's suppose to be able to cut up to 20 sheets of paper at a time. Just what I was looking for! Right?Well, it can't even cut 1 piece of 80 lb cs without fraying the edges (as you can see in my photos). Also, under the window light, it looks new. But when I put it on my desk (under my desk top light) I saw the scratches. (That didn't bother me at that point.)But I tried to cut my 1st piece of cs and the edges was frayed and actually bent toward the under-side in some places. I tried a few more pieces of cs, and each were the same, (frayed edges). No one had a clean cut edge.I was so disappointed. I believe this cutter was used previously. Also, when pushing upward or pulling downward, the wheel was so HARD to push or pull, like it is grabbing or pressed too tight against the guide plate. Also, this cutter is heavy, like it's a heavy duty cutter. Seems to be made well, just defective?I called Amazon CS, and they offered me a replacement or credit. After talking with the Rep. I decided this might just be a fluke and said to exchange it. We'll see. I will update my review after Tuesday (when the replacement is to arrive).Until then, I give this one 1 star. I am so disappointed in it. Hopefully the replacement will get 4-5 stars. 😁UPDATE: I received the replacement quickly! Thank You!I tried it out immediately, and this one cut so good! It was easier to slide, I cut 3 pcs of 80 lb card stock, together. It went through it so easy! And a clean cut, too! The edges are so clean and smooth! I also checked this cutter for scratches or any signs of previously owned. It was perfect. 😁. The measures are accurate and the top lever does NOT allow the card stock to move. Perfect cut every time, even as small as 1/16 of an inch slice! I am so happy with this purchase. 😁 I will give this one 5 stars⭐!Thank You Amazon for such a speedy replacement!I hope I won't ever have to replace the blade. The info says not. 😅

Exactly 2 years to the Day- updated revision
The media could not be loaded. UPDATED WITH A HAPPY ENDING TO THE STORY- I bought this 10/14/20 and was shipped out 10/15/20. Today is 10/15/22 and it broke entirely last night. Was great at first, although I thought for the price it wouldn't be almost entirely plastic. Really can only use it for plain paper and cardstock, if you are cutting any stickers or anything you will have to clean the blade often, which is a ridiculous pain since it cannot be removed. Regular paper also leaves residue behind so you will slowly get less and less of a clean cut until you clean the blade. I used this at least 2-4x a week for cutting double printed reciepts on regular paper and prepaid labels, occasional cardstock & sticker paper. I don't even understand what happened last night, cutting a single piece of printer paper. the thing just snapped literally in half, right up to the edge all along the line where the blade rolls through. Because I use it often, it even had it's own shelf inside a cabinet in the kitchen. So it wasn't an improper storage or use issue. Maybe they aren't made to be used weekly? I assume the plastic, like all other products made with it, must have started to stress crack at some point for that to happen. It is that hard clear plastic, the kind that becomes brittle and yellows over time, the same type that is used on virtually everything that is made of plastic. However, I have had the cheapie, mass produced, thin $10 ones before and never had one break, just have to change blades quite often, and not all of them are very accurate, which is wasteful and can get expensive depending on how much you use it, and is the reason I bought this, since I use it so often, with a lifetime blade. The Fiskar website has nowhere to submit a claim for the lifetime warranty and they tell you to call a phone number, which goes to a VM that tells you to email. Who knows if I will ever get a response besides the generic email I got that says it will be several weeks before they will answer me. I have no idea if I have to pay to send it in or what since there is no info on what to do, and no one to speak to since nobody works anywhere anymore. Having to replace blades is wasteful, I prefer this. Crossing my fingers I get a response quickly. - ***UPDATE*** Okay, I changed my review from 2 stars to 5, it has been 2 months, BUT, someone finally got back to me about 5 days ago, and it was a simple process, they needed photos of the damage and to confirm the model, they sent a brand new one super fast ! I am chalking this one up to maybe the one I had was faulty in some way, possibly when it was shipped it had a hairline crack or something. But, the GREAT news here, they do back their product up even if it takes a couple of months to answer, they did answer and they did send a new one. That being said, I went through 5 blades on the cheapie one I purchased when this broke, and I probably needed to change those blades more than I did. I would purchase this one again, and will buy more fiskar products in the future. The whole world knows, it is difficult to find any company these days that will actually back up their products! So I am not out the money spent and it is a happy ending!

not accurate by 1/32, but if that doesn't matter to you...
Cuts straight, but, I tested it on several sheets of paper. It does not cut accurately; measurement is off by 1/32" which may not sound like much but that adds up in bookmaking. Also, when the paper is placed to cut, it covers the ruler, so all you have are the 1/4" lines, which makes for constant checking and double-checking. Also, on a stack of 4 text sheets, the bottom one was not cut clean. Sometimes I'm cutting one-of-a-kind pages, and I must make the correct cut the first time. Made a mess of one minor project. Returned. I was so hoping this would work for cutting chipboard, but I didn't test that after the paper test.
