If you’re looking to capture podcast style audio, this is the microphone that you should be looking at. Of course, when you look at the videos of all the big Podcasters and they’re using the shure microphones, it seems tempting to just get one of those microphones. But take it from a person who’s been in the entertainment industry for over 40 years unless you are a true audiophile, you will not hear the difference. This is a brilliant condenser microphone that if used properly in the proper setting is absolutely brilliant you will not use this microphone to capture audio for a feature film. You will not use this microphone in a concert setting you will use this microphone in online meetings, recording a podcast or any other environment where you need your microphone to pick up your voice and somewhat ignore the rest of the noise in the room. There’s lots of tacky stuff that goes into microphones and you can see some of it in the listing but in the end your question is, does this sound as good as a $600 microphone to 98% of the population it does, and until you can develop an ear that tells you the difference between that and this… just buy this.A couple things you should know. This is not a USB microphone. It uses phantom power the an XLR cable in other words you’ll need an interface that can supply that 48 V power to the microphone you will not be able to plug this in to your laptop and record, you can pick up an interface rather inexpensively.All in all, it may have the price of a mid tier microphone, but its performance is surprising. As I said, in the title, you should consider this microphone, but I will amend it here. You should SERIOUSLY consider this microphone.

Great mic, easy to setup. Sounds amazing

After almost 5 years since my purchase, I still use this mic every day and it's always sounded amazing. It's just one of those things you buy and never have to worry about again.The only thing I've replaced is the mic stand, which is unrelated to the mic. I would recommend going with a high quality mic stand if possible. I've purchased 2 already around the $10 - $20 price range and haven't had the best results there.The mic is definitely worth it though. It's professional and very, very reliable.

Great sound, very sensitive, lots of options for adjustment. Needs to be powered but after trying numerous other mics, I finally can record my mist natural sounding voice. Worth the extra money. I use this in a home studio and it’s been exactly what I needed. The search is over! Can’t go wrong for any recording. Recommend.

Sounds nice for vocals. It's OK for instruments. Just need to experiment more with room positioning.

I've had this mic for about 5 months now. It's paired with my Behringer U-PHORIA UMC22. It requires phantom power by the way, and an XLR cable for those who are unfamiliar with non-USB microphones. So if you're going to get it for your computer, you'll need an XLR to USB interface, such as a mixer, or preamp, or that Blue Icicle thing. I bought this specifically because I was looking for a larger diaphragm microphone, with directional capture, and I simply trust Audio-Technica. The frequency range, the warmness it adds to my voice, and how natural my voice can sound given the right proximity and mic settings, makes me genuinely love this mic. You will absolutely need to adjust the settings of your preamp/mixer and OS mic sensitivity settings to get it to sound how you want. But when you do it sounds so damn good. I personally keep the mic under my chin, about six inches away from my mouth, pointed straight up. This keeps my breaths from going into the mic, plosives are almost nonexistant, and it captures a more natural frequency of my voice because its far enough away, but not so far away that I need to increase the sensitivity and catch more background noise. If you're curious, I use Windows 10, in the sound settings my mic is set to 80, and my preamp is set to ~55%. I also use a compressor at a 15 ratio, -17dB, and a noise gate at around -40dB.I'm a bit picky with my mic audio so I've gone through many hours of research, test recordings, and tweaking to learn and get this mic working to its fullest capabilities. Generally speaking, no quality mic will sound its best, unless you know what you're doing.With that said I really can't recommend this mic to people who know nothing about basic audio setup/engineering, or people just looking for a plug and play mic.However if you're willing to take the time to understand how audio works, or you already understand and you're looking for a nicer mic than what you currently have (me before getting this one) I can absolutely recommend this one
