Handy Book For Rotations
Just finished my first rotation and this was so helpful! It starts off with the most important things to know generally about the approach to each patient. It had a few bullet points which i remembered (i was in emergency med) and it helped focus each h&P! Each book goes over the most common diagnoses you will see in that rotation. It goes in depth for each diagnosis, from presentation to diagnostics, and how to treat them. It goes over the MC etiology and the general population that is affected. It also has a chapter on the most common diagnostics and labs ordered for each rotation, which is super helpful if that is a weak area! Overall highly recommend. I started reading the weekend before my rotation and read it on downtime during my shifts

Great for guiding through rotation, not as much for complete EOR studying
These are great to use while on your clinical rotation. As far as studying for the EOR, they are not really meant for that. They include common things that you will see during a rotation but the pance prep pearls book is probably the best for EOR’s. However, I think these books are well worth it if you want something to guide you through the rotation! I referenced the book frequently depending on what the patients presented with

Perfect for during rotations!!
I purchased these from the publisher and have loved them for during rotations! They aren't for studying for EORE or PANCE. They give great advice for helping with clinical applications, tips and tricks, and for going over the most common topics encountered in each rotation. Helped a lot with broad differental development for me. Definitely recommend them to anyone going through PA school to get before your rotations begin.

Not the pocket guide I was hoping it would be
The good: The allure of a 7-book set based around the core clinical rotations is nice. What these books do is provide a synopsis on a variety of the most common diseases, diagnostics, patient education, treatments, procedures, preventive measures, etc. The information included is good, accurate, reliable, and well sourced. The book size and weight is perfect for keeping in your coat or scrub pants. The introduction section provides some good information on what to expect and what you need to know which helps take some of the anxiety and mystery out of the upcoming rotation. Now the not-so-good: The organization of each book is odd to me. Sections follow a similar format in each book with some minor differences depending on the specialty, but are broken up into: common presentations, common disease entities, diagnostic testing, patient education, urgent management, common procedures. There are times where you will have to look in several different sections of the book for information on one single disease. The authors use a whole lot of words to provide a small amount useful information such that it leaves these books somewhere between a quick reference bullet-pointed guide (i.e. surgical recall) and a specialty review book (i.e. Washington manual of critical care). Thus too many words to help you in a pinch on rotations, but too little information to help you prepare for the rotation or the exam. And the picture quality is laughable at best. Black and white with no grayscale printed on standard paperback book paper. In general, good books with quality information, but don't do what they should do. Future editions will benefit greatly from better organization and either increasing the number of topics without increasing the words, or keeping the same information with fewer words. Ditch the photos, or have an index in the back of the book with high quality paper and color printing.

DO NOT get the Amazon Kindle EBook version
If you order the Amazon Kindle Ebook version, all 7 books will be combined into 1 giant book, not 7 individual books like I had expected. The reason this is especially bad, is because in Kindle, this book has no table of contents on the side bar. So one cannot simply jump from book to book or chapter to chapter (like all other books on amazon kindle). Wanting to study the ER book, I have to just keep scrolling until I find the book. This alone makes it unusable during rotations, I don't have the time to scroll for minutes each time I need to look up a topic. Especially since the book has 2k+ pages, its a pain to find what I need. Luckily it had a return purchase button, so hopefully I can be refunded soon. Do not get the Amazon Kindle EBook!
