I have no need to keep my feet warm but they ironically do keep my feet cool in hot weather. It's said that sandals are best for the heat but thick socks in hiking boots actually feels cooler, perhaps because the socks breathe and the feet have no sun and sweat. My feet do sweat a little but the socks generally feel dry when I take them off after a full day walking in the park on a summer day. Thick socks are what make hiking boots great, as you can walk for miles like its nothing compared to thin socks. So the comfort of these socks is definitely real. I would describe them more as insulating than thermal.

I'm a woman with size 8.5/9 in shoes so I got the medium in these and they fit perfect! Let me just say, these are sooo thick and warm and comfy and cozy! They washed up fine, but they got a little fuzzy (as to be expected with wool). These are just so great, they kept my feet warm without making them sweaty. They didn't slide down at all either. But unless you have enough room in your shoes, you'll just have to wear these around the house or something because they are SO thick and they can be hard to get shoes on and off. I love a good pair of socks and these seem really durable too. Great buy!

Just like the BSA used to recommend: thick, plush wool socks. Great for warm feet, long hikes. Wool socks wick better than almost anything else out there. Liked them a lot, and plan to buy more next winter.

GREAT BUY! The wool socks are warm, soft, thick, well made and cozy. I' m on my feet all day and really need good socks. Merino wool socks are wonderful in all weather conditions. I wear the socks with both hiking boots and casual sneakers. They fit well and keep my feet dry and warm all day. 100% recommend these wool socks to people who work long days outside in cold weather.

I have ordered 3 or 4 pairs of these socks because I love them. I am at home most of the time and don't wear shoes in the house. My feet get very cold, however, (being 75 probably doesn't help) so I wear these wool socks. They are very durable with the nylon component added to the wool, but even so, the heel wears through after a whole year of daily wear. That is truly amazing. I hear everyone raving about SmartWool socks. Well, yeah, they're probably fine if you wear shoes or slippers, but they don't last at all for me.I am starting to knit patches for the heels when wear finally makes a hole, because the rest of the sock is perfectly fine. I hope these remain in stock for a long time.

I've been searching for just the right socks for my dear husband. I hit the jackpot with these! He really loves them. In fact, I'm going to order a bunch more for him. Please note: when I first took the socks out of their package it appeared they were not going to fit. They have to fit over 2 layers of felt and foam that are taped to his sole. But when I pulled them on for him....wow, perfect! I appreciate the high percentage of natural material - Merino Wool. I highly recommend these wonderful socks.

I am a female. I bought men’s socks because I am 6’1” tall and wear a women’s size 11 shoe/boot.I don’t hike but I like in Chicagoland and need hiking boots and socks during our arctic winters.These socks are lovely; attractive, warm, thick, come to my mid-calf. However, they are so thick that I cannot fit my boots on over them. My boots fit perfectly with an athletic sock. What I probably need is a thin liner. I am keeping them for cold winter nights.These are quality socks. If you order them you will need a larger boot to accommodate them.

I tried a single pair to make sure they fit. I purchased for normal day to day use and for hiking. These are made of 50% wool and the remainder is synthetic fibers. This makes them excellent for hiking or any activity where your feet could get wet as they will continue to keep your feet warm.They fit comfortably without a lot of compression but enough to keep them from working their way down my ankles throughout the day.Happy with my purchase, next time i will buy a multipack.

They are great around the house or in boots. Very warm.
