No frills, solid unit
I picked the Wahoo over Polar and Garmin as already have the ELMNT bike computer and I like the feel of the whole Wahoo vibe. I had the MK1 HRM but it got lost in a house move, so was happy to upgrade. The lights are a welcome addition to indicate Bluetooth connection & HR being detected! Done a few gym sessions with the HRM so far and its performed as expected. Solid. Need to remember to wet the two sensors on the belt to help with conductivity. Unit seems to be bang on for accuracy, it's comfortable and well put together like the rest of the Wahoo product set. Looking forward to taking it out on the bike and putting it thru the paces for a few hours.

Great value for a great heart monitor.
I was told I should not run but I have been running (jogging) with a monitor on my watch and it bleeps when it thinks I run too fast. However, I appreciate that that isn't accurate but I did decide to switch to cycling. This Wahoo TICKr heat monitor is excellent value. I had a polar one years ago and that was £200, this nis less than £4r0.Straight out of the box it activated and I was able to add it, via an app to both my iPhone and my recently purchase Wahoo Bolt.It is the second version of the TOCKR and from all accounts there are only a few small changes ie shape. It comes with instructions and the belt which clips to the monitor and is easy to fit to your chest.Once I had connected up - dead easy I went for a short ride. The monitor checks your heart rate and shows up on the Wahoo Bolt. It starts off with your heart rate at a grey level then green [- good, amber - be careful and I suspect red for over doing it, but I only reached the amber.Once back home you can down load to a number of tracking/training apps - I use Strava and the details of your heart rate can be seen there, on the Wahoo app on your phone or from the download off the Bolt.Very pleased with it and it will certainly help me keep out of the red and still get fitter.

Unreliable, inaccurate and low quality
I am reviewing this after a year of ownership and use. I don’t believe most other reviews are after a long period of use. I have now replaced the device with a Garmin HRM.The device worked without fault for the first month or so.After one month, I started to notice drops of 10-20 bpm every so often. These would happen approximately every to minutes and would take about 45 seconds to recover properly. After three months, the slider to adjust the size of the strap became brittle and snapped, leaving a sharp edge digging into my back.Four to five months in, the data logging started becoming very poor. It seemed to default at 121 bpm regardless of exertion. Only once I had unclipped it and reclipped did it start recording properly to only drop out to 0 and re-record. I also experienced it randomly peaking ~5bpm above my heart rate.Six months in, it struggled to detect any heart rate activity and, therefore, would not connect.Eight months in and it would record my heart rate, consistently, at 225bpm. My post session graph would be a flat line of 225bpm.Ten months in, I did a 2k test with the monitor. The heart rate it gave me bear no resemblance to anything. Completely inaccurate.Twelve months in, it struggles to detect any activity, drops out mid session and peaks randomly. It completely stopped working at this point.Throughout the year, I noticed a buildup of corrosion around the contact points of the chest strap and the monitor unit. Cleaning it with alcohol provided a temporary fix. I only ever washed the strap with baby shampoo. The monitor had about 150 hours of hard use and over 500 hours of low intensity.

Bluetooth & Ant+ Connectivity Easy Connection
There are many choices of heartrate monitors out there, I picked this one as many of the reviews suggested that this was the best for connecting to my Turbo Trainer and using Zwift. Yes its about 20-30% more expensive than a generic model, but you get the addition of ANT+ to compliment the Bluetooth connections. This is essential if you are using AppleTV to connect your E-Trainer.Accuracy- Chest straps are the most accurate way to measure your heart rate. No issues here and if you are racing, this will give you no issues.Battery- I use this around around 10-15 hours a week on the bike and also for fitness classes and yoga. The original battery lasted about a month before I changed it. Current one is still going strong 8 weeks later. Buy some spares (CR2032) as you wont want to run out mid session.Connection: Clip on, fit to chest and it connects to your device automatically. Dont use your phone's BT connection to connect it, use what ever app you are connecting too.Cleaning: To extend the life and keep it fresh, I wipe the unit after use with a towel, rinse the strap under water, and leave to dry on the radiator ready for my next session.

Stopped working after 8 months but fine until then
This item worked well for 7-8 months before the central battery holder section stopped being able to detect the battery so completely stopped working. Contacted Wahoo to let them know and they sent a replacement out immediately. Hopefully I won't have the same issue again.

Had a Gen1 wahoo tickr for a few years & now bought the 2020 wahoo tickr
The strap on my gen1 wahoo tickr split and I couldn’t get it to work by gluing it. It had worked great for years recording heart rate and gps for running and cycling on the app and uploaded all data directly to runkeeper, Strava, my fitness pal and loads of others. No need to cut and paste anything, as soon as you save a workout it offers to let you upload it to your paired app of choice, seamless..I decided to buy a new one wahoo as I was happy with All that gen1 did for me. Bought gen 2 and this has improvements so that the plastic strap ends won’t split, my main concern, and they have a better engineered feel to them, the battery life was good before and has been improved, LED’s now on top is a nice touch. It been a reliable and quality heart rate monitor for me. I don’t know why one feedback comment on here mentions music not working with the wahoo heart rate fitness tracker, I have used two different brands of Bluetooth headphones over the years and never had an issue .. very reliable and well worth the £40.
