Hellwig 7651 Rear Sway Bar

Great product took about an hour to install on my 2006 Ram. It corners alot flatter now. I didn't need to lower the spare I had enough room to work around it. I've read were some people relocated their right side brake line for fear of pinching it, you don't have to the brackets for the axle tube are slotted to fit over the brake line when installed correctly.

Good quality product but not easy to install if you have 3.5" axle tubes. I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4 X 4 and the model number that supposedly fits my truck it model 7651. So, that is what I ordered and received. The U-Bolts provided need to be an inch longer to allow you to put on BOTH the regular nut AND the lock nut. Longer threads would make this install so much easier. The other thing is that if you look closely at the sway bar itself, there is a slight bend where the end links attach. It is very important to get the orientation correct. The sway bar ends must point "upwards" in order to meet up to the end links correctly. The instructions do not address this. I almost finished the installation before realizing the sway bar had to be flipped over for the install to be geometrically correct. So, everything had to be unbolted and started from scratch. Bummer!

Installed on my 04 dodge ram 1500, fits perfectly. i have dual exhausts and had to adjust the pipe mounting brackets slightly to make room. i did have to remove my spare tire to get better access for the install and made it much easier to maneuver under my truck. test drove it this morning and the cornering is very impressive. feels tighter on the corners and not much sway as it used to have for the side to side roll. i do carry heavy loads from time to time and i have air bags installed as well, it did not get in the way of the installation of the sway bar, just info for those who may be in the same situation as i was when i planned this upgrade. i love it and it feels like i am driving a much newer truck than my '04.

I purchased this used from Amazon and it arrived on time but with parts missing. Hellwig was nice enough to ship out the parts 2nd day delivery. A+ to Hellwig. Amazon compensated me for the missing parts. A+ to Amazon. The sway bar was painted gray speckle, what Hellwig calls hammertone. ( duh duh duh duh....duh duh.. duh duh hammertone.) Sorry couldn't help myself. I sanded all the shine off of it, primered it and sprayed it flat black with 1 rattle can of each. Looked a lot better as now it matched my suspension color. Install instructions were a little unclear about the frame plate placement (need better photos of spare tire frame cross member). Apart from that the install was pretty straight forward. Took a while to position the sway bar in the correct slight downward position.Now for the 3 star rating. I don't feel much difference when cornering. I like to take exit ramps as fast and safely as possible and don't real feel the difference I was expecting. I will update this review in one or two months after a longer testing period.

I installed the Hellwig rear sway bar on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. From the factory, the truck does not come with a rear sway bar. So I was never happy with the trucks handling. Switching to stiffer shocks just wasn't enough to remove the boat like sway while cornering. The truck is a dream to drive now and handles more car like. Nice and flat around corners. A must add on if your truck does not have a factory rear sway bar.

Fit my Dodge Ram 1500 perfect! The only flaw was the instructions and the U bolts that attach to the axle. The detail instructions show to use regular nut and washer and double up with a locking nut on the U-bolt, which will never fit because the threaded length is not long enough. After trying to get just the washer and regular nut on, I had to just settle on the washer and lock nut only do the length of the threaded U-bolt was too short.

First, the sway bar did fit my 2009 Ram 2500 (Gas, 4X4, regular cab). I mention that because the Hellwig website does not specify a sway bar that fits my configuration. The Amazon filters said it would fit, so I gave it a shot and it worked.Second, the bar itself is a high-quality, heavy duty piece and does an excellent job at what it is supposed to do. That said, if you plan to install it yourself you will benefit with an extra hand holding it up as you mount it. I did not. I had to loosely attach the axle mounts, hold the bar up with one hand and slide it through the U-clamps. The bar will hang there as you attach the frame mounts and the rest is easy - just tightening up the bolts and adjusting the fit. The only complaint I have (and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars) is that the threads of most of the bolts and U-bolts were damaged or improperly machined. I had to spend a lot of extra time re-threading them. I'm not sure if they were made in China but I wouldn't be surprised given the poor quality of the machining.But the end result was worth it - A heavy duty sway bar installed in a couple of hours.
