Organic thyme at a great price.this thyme arrived as part of my monthly s&s delivery, it was well packaged, fragrant upon opening, tasted great, and seemed super fresh. Truly far superior to store-bought thyme.There were no stems or hard bits(for those that take this for granted, it is not a guarantee ;-))If you wonder why restaurant food tastes so different than what you make at home, its likely availability of ingredients, thanks to Amazon, the playing field is leveled. Growing up with an exec chef for a grandmother and running my own bakery catering business for several years, I had always had access to great products, then I was relegated to grocery store spices and I knew it just wasnt right. The closest I could come was Archer Farms from Target...thanks to Amazon, I am back in business...without having to have a commercial food purveyor contract...yeah Amazon(again).

I had qualms about this extraordinarily cheap product that was from a third world country, but I thought I’d give it a whirl.First I opened the bag and took a sniff – it smells exactly like what it is purported to be – dried thyme. Next, I seeped two teaspoons full and tasted – it tastes like thyme. So I drank it. It didn't kill me.As for its efficacy, my opinion, though “anecdotal” is that seems to be just as good as the fresh thyme I was buying from Fresh Market, but lots cheaper. I am qualified to test the efficacy of thyme because I had very real symptoms of discomfort on two accounts – a dry cough caused by a side effect of Lisinopril and a couple of bouts of bad bronchitis in the past couple of months. My symptoms were a constant “dry” cough. It’s called “dry”, but in reality, the lungs and/or bronchioles produce a small amount of crystal clear, very thick mucus, and your body is constantly trying to cough this up.I only recently discovered thyme after seeing that it is standard treatment for coughs per the German Health Department. This gave thyme credibility for me. It worked like a miracle. I used to go to CVS and buy various forms of cough remedies, but they all had side effects and were only mediocrely effective. I used to be a “home-remedy-herbal-cure “non-believer; and for good reason I still think 90% of health store products are a rip off. But not thyme.And now I digress as there is a second herbal product that work like magic for me – oil of oregano. I had a very uncomfortable sore throat and a friend had a bottle of “super strength” oil of oregano. You lie down and place two drops of this right at the back of your throat and swish for a few seconds. It will knock your socks off. But if you can handle, it, it is amazing. If I tell you that it cured my throat discomfort instantly, you may not believe it, but it did. Again, I will never buy drugstore sore throat remedies again.I am willing to bet that all these tiny bottles of very expensive dried thyme that you see in the supermarket are from the same Egyptian factory as the $11 a pound product I am reviewing.Caution: thyme looks pretty harmless, like ground grass, but is in fact a powerful drug and you can overdose on it. Of all people, I did – headache, nausea, sick for two or three days. Do not exceed recommended dosages. I would limit to two teaspoons full seeped in hot water no more than twice a day when experiencing a cough – max!

Lots and lots of wonderful thyme tea for a great price!! Bless you!! It is cut pretty fine so you need a tea holder that has small holes which was no problem for me. Nice flavor and thyme is great for many ills. Marvelous antibacterial. Bag is simple but nice. Packed well for shipment. It's rare for me to give 5 stars , but well deserved.
