Rumour Has It.. This was a gooood story!
Rumor Has It was added to the books I love by Cheris Hodges. In this story, Liza Palmer worked as a political advisor to one her best friends and former college buddy Robert Montgomery. Robert had chosen to run for the a new senate seat in his home town in N.C. Liza's other best friend Chante Britt worked for a prestigious law firm with lots of clout. So when Liza introduced her two best friends, a budding romance ensued and before you know it her best buds were planning a wedding. Roberts challenger was handsome and debonair Jackson Franklin, a down home former Army hero and easy going unassuming political opponent. Later when Liza caught her friend in a compromising position, he chose to try to bring down Liza and ruin her career to save face. Liza later aligned her political savvy behind Jackson and falls for him, because she believed in his political position and his honesty as a candidates. Robert started to pay hard ball and leaked untruths about Liz and Jackson. Jackson's political advisor strongly urged him to stay away from Liza, but it was too late for both of them, as they were in love. Over the course of the story we see back stabbing and poor decisions being made by both Liza, Jackson, Chante and Robert. In the end true love and honesty prevailed. This story was a political drama with a touch of romance.

Two thumbs up!!
I really enjoyed the read. The book created a state of anticipation and need to know for me as a reader - meaning Mrs. Hodges work was not predictable. The characters were well developed and liked or hated where needed. Once again, the author has delivered. Having lived in Charlotte before, I'm wondering if I need to make a return to the city, clearly lots of drama and opportunity can be found there ... Waiting for the next one.
