Rico Reserve Bass Clarinet Reeds, Strength 4.0, 5-pack

I’ve been using these reeds for 3 years and these have been the best reeds i’ve tried compared to V12 and V21 reeds. I sound more crisp and full with these reeds and they last a really long time. I practice for hours sometimes each day and they are wonderful. In my opinion i like how these sound better on me. it may be different for each person though and each instrument.

My husband was playing on these and one of the other Bass Clarinets broke her last reed, he gave her one of these, she liked them so much the other BC player ordered a box right then.

I just needed reeds

These bass clarinet reeds seem to match the hardness of other 2.0 reeds I’ve used in the past. I get a good 10 hours of use out of them. They aren’t ‘breathy’, and seem to hold up even when over wetted. I’ve enjoyed playing with them. They are also organic which is a selling point. I don’t think I have seen organic reeds before.

Much better tone than Rico reeds I used to use.

My daughter plays the Bass Clarinet in several bands and while the quality of these reeds is very impressive, the cardboard sleeve they come in shortens its life span, especially if traveling with the instrument. My daughter has saved the plastic case from her other reeds to repurpose them for these organic reeds from D'Addario. I understand the brands commitment to sustainability and appreciate the lack of plastic used in production and shipping, but it is just not practical for this application. The reeds are great, but the packaging let them down!

These reeds are very nice quality and quite strong for being 2.0. I like that they're organic, leaving out synthetic fibers and other pesticides and herbicides that may be present in cheaper reeds. However, the packaging of these reeds presents a major flaw. As opposed to other reeds I've used in the past, the case for the reed is made out of thin cardstock paper. This seems quite unprotective for the reed and as a former marching band kid, the plastic cases for reeds are a must-have. However, these reeds are nice overall.

Very good a very alternative the other reeds. Plays well with even tone across the registers.
