Excellent, easy to use, great screen and not bulky phone

The phone is easy to use. Classed as a senior phone (dislike) but it looks modern, unlike other makes. It is easy to use, small but clear and bright screen. Clear to hear on the phone great ringtone. Easy to find contacts with was a must when I purchased this for a relative.Little Red call sign flashes for missed calls. And looks like green envelop for texts. Takes the standard c charging cable which is great too.Small torch, not sure how good. Sos button, we didn't activate this as not needed.I wish I purchased this phone before. Had purchased a Samsung which really let my relative down. Bad battery, wouldnt charge etc. This phone is excellent. I'll update the review if anything changes, but for now it's so far so good. One happy independent relative, which a nice, modern looking phone. Classed as senior, buts its a nice, neat, classy looking phone

Basic mobile phone

This is a decent mobile phone.I purchased it for my elderly grandmother and she is finding it easy to use; the buttons are large and easy to press, the screen is big and the text is readable. The ringtone is loud enough, so are the speakers which are very clear. The SOS button on the back means you can program numbers in case of an emergency. The number(s) are called and text messages sent ('Help me!' - which can be edited, and location coordinates). It's great as a backup mobile or for elderly people who need one just to be able to call or be called.

Too good to be true - for us anyway!

Bought this phone for an elderly relative - at first it looked OK, though felt very much lighter than one would expect. The problems started when we tried to open it up; although we found the requisite groove to open it easily enough, none of us could prise this open with our fingers and we resorted to using a tool (which he uses to open his old phone with no issues). Bad move - the plastic of the case was so soft that anything touching it caused deep scratches, and to make matters worse we had to lever through gaps in several places to get the case apart finally. SIM insertion was fairly easy - the phone is designed for larger old SIMs, but the micro version slotted in and was held well in place. We set up the phone only to discover that every few seconds a message flashed up, 'Sending text message', when we weren't doing anything, and we couldn't stop it. Also, settings weren't retained - each time the phone was switched off, time and date were lost, and the phonebook from the SIM card was duplicated on the display. Sound was OK, but we only tried this once before concluding other issues meant it wasn't worth persevering. Phone has been returned for a refund.

A neat, practical and easy to use 2G clam phone

Once I was able to remove the back panel to insert the sim and battery all was very straightforward. The display is wonderfully clear, the sound not loud but clean, ideal for my failing hearing pre hearing aid. I shall be using it as a holiday phone, travelling on my own so the emergency dial for up to 5 numbers is a bonus. Sadly I dropped my Motorola razr V3 but am happy to say that I believe this Artphone has a lot going for it as basic phone/text equipment.

Flimsy

Brought this phone for my mother in law.It works. But it is very flimsy. You've got to be careful about how you handle it. The case scratches very easily. Battery life is certainly not great. Gave it 3 stars because it still works, and it suits her needs. But if you want something for everyday usage, and being out and about on your person, I would definitely look elsewhere.

Cracked hinge

Plastic cracked around hinge already after nominal use. Good cellotape

My Dad's a phonie!

This replaced a simple Nokia 106 which was too fiddly to use. The same goes for any small phone that has a toggle button: It is too easy to click the wrong bit of the toggle and make a mistake. Also the buttons themselves are quite mushy. This phone has no toggle: Instead it has an up and down button for menu and a yes and no button. So these options are separated.Furthermore, this phone has good large buttons that have a positive click AND the phone speaks the digit that you have just pressed. That is good confirmation. There are also quick-call buttons which are useful (and another 9 pre-selected phone numbers)The advantage of the cradle rather than an USB-mini connection is that it doesn't need good eyesight and steady hands. Just dropping it on the cradle means it will start charging. This beats going to the phone and finding the battery is flat. Being 'always charging' means it is always ready for an emergency.Furthermore being red and in a cradle on the kitchen worktop makes it visible. So it gets used more, and my 93 year old father has suddenly entered the texting era and that means we keep in contact easily. The external display is useful as an aid to remembering date and time.I have set the phone to answer as you flip the phone open, otherwise it gets fiddly. Finally, the SOS button: not tested yet, but you can write your own 80-character message which goes to five people. One thing we haven't been able to do is send pictures (MMS) but the phone implies that it can although there are absolutely NO instructions with it, apart from the basics and the usual CE regulatory messages...warnings to stay away from munitions, brain wave risks...but the targetted audience probably have more pressing problems than from using a low power phone.Be careful to select the item WITH the cradle as I got confused and ended up with three phones getting it right.Dad is with EE and we simply took the SIM out of the old Nokia and put it in this one and it worked straight away. It seems that in the UK although 3G is bieng phased out, 2G will be remaining as it is used in lots of other things and is not bunging up bandwidth.
