I continue to have success using IOGEAR switches between Windows and Linux machines. In this case I'm sharing a Brother HL2270DW laser printer between Windows 10 and Linux (PCLinuxOS). The 2 port switch worked manually out of the box without any issues. I located the switch within easy arms reach and the most difficult part was running the cables out of sight.

This sharing switch is BUS POWERED which means it gets its power from the computer USB port(s). So if your USB cable length(s) are too long (greater than 25ft) it may not work due to line loss. This happened to me. Running shorter USB lengths fixed my problem! If you must run longer cables, consider using "ACTIVE" USB extension cables.

Arrived very quickly, and it works just as described without any problems or special set up routines. There are two short printer cables that came with mine, but I only used one to plug into the printer. I used 2 extra long cables to connect our 2 computers to the switch. Worked first and every time since.

Did as I expected it to. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad PC Laptop and an HP PC desktop. Both are now connected and print "AUTOMATICALLY" no button to push. Simply hit print from either computer and it prints. Definitely worth my investment.

I purchased this to plug my keyboard into so that I could switch between my work desktop and my personal desktop. It works perfectly. It's lightweight enough that I used some double sided adhesive strips to secure it to the underside of my desk. Incredibly happy with my purchase.

Used this to switch a Windows 10 and a Windows 7 PC to my HP Laserjet. I can't manually switch the device like I could with the older IOGear automatic printer switch, but I would only use that to see if it was switching ok. I guess that's progress. Otherwise it works good with no problems.

My wife and I share a printer and wireless unreliability was driving us crazy. The IOGEAR Peripheral Sharing Switch appeared to be a good solution. I was wrong. It is a GREAT solution and value! Instructions were simple and clear. It works as directed and is very reliable! No more wireless connection issues! Thank you IOGEAR!

Great piece of kit. Well worth the asking price.

PROS:Finally a switch that does what it supposed to, that is know which computer is printing, and then automatically selecting that line to send the print to the printer. No more manual switching between ports.CONS:For some unknown reason the computer I am printing from sends the print to the small label printer which is connected via USB to the computer. If I manually unplug the power cable from the label printer then the print gets send correctly to the laser printer attached to the switch. There must be a setting somewhere that will correct it. Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

Switch comes with one cable to connect with printer.(not mentioned in ad) So I purchased one more cable than I needed to connect this switch. Other than that ,the hardware was easy to install. The software was another issue.I am using this switch in my home office to switch an HP laser printer between two different computers running Windows 10 . I downloaded the windows 10 driver from IOGEAR website and installed on both computers. I could print from either computer but had to push the button to switch back and forth manually. It would not switch automatically ! After several attempts, finally got the USB peripheral switch software properly installed on both computers. Auto switching feature now works great.

Unit comes with 1 cable, so need to make sure to have additional cables for each computer. Very easy to install and no configuration required. Only downfall is that sometimes there is a delay for computer to realize it is now attached to printer so don't start printing until confirmed printer attached.
