excellent product with easy to configure

This type of equipment is not for really for residential usage, although the tenacious tinker among us will probably find a way to successfully configure it and understand it's considerable capabilities as a wireless access point. For business/commercial usage, you will find nothing better. It is very important that you register this device with Fortinet as soon as you get it. Make sure this done immediately after purchasing and receiving the device, so that you can get the latest firmware loaded and determine if it's of type "lemon". Although rare with Fortinet equipment, even the best equipment can be delivered with a defect from the factory, and although it's rare with these particular devices, it is always a remote possibility. Note that after the 90 day of default warranty coverage, this equipment can be covered with a 1 or more year warranty (basically for SA and continuation of lemon-aid purposes). These WAP units are well built and very capable. Fortinet also offers an awesome cloud management system which will ease configuration of the device for use with your firewall. It can also be used with FortiGate firewall integrated wireless controllers, for local management. What's not to like...?

We have been troubleshooting and trying to get the AP to work. Have just decided something is wrong with it.

We had these installed at my work and was tired with my old Netgear R7000 router constantly dropping connection and not performing as it should even though I paid almost $200 for it. The Fortinet access point has been amazing ever since I installed it (about a month now) at home. Super easy to setup and the speed has been constant without issues. No lag, no buffering, no nothing. Even with Apple TV, you can pause any app you are watching and it will stop instantly as well as start up again without hesitation when resuming. Tidal works perfect as well as any local LAN traffic. Before I would need a repeater for the upstairs to get signal on the second floor from the first floor but the Fortinet has been working without issue even upstairs so I removed the repeater. Internet pages load quick on wifi, apps load and pull in data quickly, email loads, podcasts download in seconds…..$180 vs $280 is a big price difference but if you want something that I believe will work for years to come with very little monitoring, its a no brainer.

So I use two of these in a 2000 Sq. Ft. house, and they still report 25% of my clients are weak, 50% are OK, and 25% are good. Now here is the crazy thing. They report receiving "interfering" access points miles away. So I receive 142 rouge access points, (with widely spaced house) but the signal to my CLIENTS INSIDE my house get a weaker signal. Go figure.Update: So since WiFi is a two-way wireless signal, it turns out, turning way DOWN the power of this access point helps. If your phone can only transmit at a low power, it doesn't help to have an AP at high power.

If your Fortigate is not vision 5.6.1 or higher you can not control these through the Managed IP. But you can use the fortinet Cloud to control them.
