I should have read about the size...I didn't realize it would be so big. I am using if for mixing pottery slip and so I have gotten a large plastic "tube" to pour the slip into so I can use this hydrometer. It works very well now that I have figured out how to measure the slip out of the bucket I have it in.

Bought this and a graduated cylinder for testing liquid ceramics glazes. I haven't tested it on glazes yet, but I did check the calibration in water (accurate), and I'm very pleased with its readability and ease of use. It came in a sturdy plastic storage tube with foam on both ends to encase the hydrometer, so I'm relieved that it's pretty portable too. I will update if I encounter any problems with its intended use, but so far, 5 stars.

First Hydrometer arrived with a broken top, and the second I had to get ordered for replacement arrived with a shattered body. I should be getting paid for the time out of my day. I was excited for this hydrometer because of the range of SG it offers, but I think I’ll need to look elsewhere.

Paired perfectly with the graduated cylinder I purchased from Amazon (250ml Graduated Cylinder, Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, Single Metric Scale, Class B, Karter Scientific 213I13).

This would be a nice very nice purchase had it been somewhat calibrated. It is hefty and long. Came nicely packed in a case.First thing I did is to measure distilled water. My hydrometer measures 0.92. I tried tap, distilled, 60F, 4C, and more. Those differences did have an effect, say 0.915 or 0.922.I understand that it's not unusual to need to log and offset to use to adjust measurements, but this error is well outside any acceptable tolerance.This might make a good fishing bobber.
