Q: What are the actual dimensions? lxwxh. i get confused with vthe discription on a different one. the length and height was mixed.

It's 21 inches tall. Then 12 inches by 10 inches wide. Holds 50 lbs of rice easily. I love it

Q: Can you use rice dispenser for dog food?

My wife thinks yes. I have my reservations. The slide door is only about 1 inch thick. The size of the small grains don’t hinder the sliding of the door to fill the portion and then drop it into the catching container. My thoughts are that anything larger than the grains of rice would bind or jam the sliding door that portions the rice. I would not recommend. Seek a breakfast cereal dispenser instead.

Q: I read from the review that the top cover doesn't snap into place. Does this keep bugs away?

The top sits on the top of the dispenser and doesn’t snap into place. Although it isn’t a tight seal it is a very flat surface and just as sealed as the dispenser door. We’ve had no issues with bugs or anything else and considered getting a second for other food. But we realized it would not be good for anything other than something like rice with no moisture content or something that otherwise wouldn’t get stale.
