Was looking for a fairly standard satellite receiver to connect to a dish aerial (ex sky?) left by the previous occupants. Chose this one on impulse (unrated - no customer feedback) and must admit to feeling a little apprehensive. Need not have worried: it arrived promptly and was up and running within minutes, bringing in most of the channels we're interested in (we are not sky subscribers), including a few extra +1s (btw, why aren't there any -1 channels? They would allow viewers to jump straight to the closing credits of the programmes they don't like!). Seriously though, while compact, the receiver provides a very clear picture. There are few frills, so don't expect a programme guide that takes you into the next century. Didn't need the instructions, having bought similar products in the past, but had I needed them, I'm not sure how helpful they would have been (the English could be improved). All in all though very good value for money.Other receivers, including some fairly expensive ones, gave up the ghost after a couple of years. If this one keeps going it'll definitely be worth that fifth star. Time will tell.

It is a basic style but good.When searching for FTA channels and marking FTA only as YES, it brings back all FTA and all paid channels in the list, there are lots of them. I turned it to NO and still it bought back all paid channels and all FTA ones. Had to spend some time sorting and deleting the paid for ones that come with a '$' sign.The WIFI aerial worked very well for UPDATES, but the apps section did not work well and was based on non relevant news for the UK and the weather section, thought it has Europe as a choice, it only gave RUSSIA and TURKEY!. On contacting the guys and explaining the same, they indicated they would be get the tech guys to add the Europe ones, which I am sure they would do.The EPG I felt was not easy or intuitive, it only showed a small channel list of 3 and a live channel image. There is no NOW and NEXT on the EPG itself and no programme information, though these can be view by clicking on each channel and seeing the NOW and NEXT and clicking 'I' for info on the remote to see the programme description. It would work so much better if all were also on the EPG. I hope the team there can look into it. An intuitive EPG would be less complex than the current way. It gives you the 7 days to scroll over, but no programme information, times or details come up at all, so not sure how one uses the EPG 7 days guide. It is fine if you do not mind doing some work to start with tidying up the channels and if you are happy with a more basic EPG interface. I am positive the team producing the D1S will continue to make enhancements and improvements, releasing them so we can use the included WIFI dongle to get all the best updates from them enhancing our experience as users and improving their products. The D1S has the full database of satellites and the transponders. Picture quality is good and PVR good.Bill

Unit worked perfectly with HDMI connected, however I also needed the analogue AV output, which unfortunately produced only one channel of audio and no video. Otherwise the unit was quick and easy to set-up and would have been very good value for money. Item returned as faulty.

Lasted 10 minutes then a bang smell of burning unit dead fuse box in house cut out. Rubbish

This is a simple device. It does what it says in the advert. Be warned, it will show all the channels transmitted by the chosen satellite so you do need to spend a bit of time deselecting the ones you do not want/need.

I could not find a Thor satellite in the list and all the channels that was available on my old box cannot find themThey used to be on Thor but this satellite is not in the listVery disappointed (((
