Great cabinet!

Very nice cabinet with loads of space. Bought it for a small movie room and set it up on a dresser to conserve space. Put our best dvds on it and found we still have over half to fill. It could also hold cds, pocketbooks and old vhs's, or other things. Very happy with this purchase. Would recommend!

Good value. Needs assembly tips

Overall this is a good value. Having purchased 8 floor units & 2 wall units I learned a lot while putting them together. Before I start with assembly tips I want to say I love having my movies and CD's organized! I can now find any volume from my different collections. My first advice is to the manufacturer - clean the parts better! The box comes with a lot of saw dust included at no charge. Save yourself some agony and simply clean the parts as you unpack the box. I found this to be most effective. As mentioned by others the directions are not the greatest. I will include a few tips. The assembly of the main pieces is straight forward and relatively simple. The first struggle will be attaching the back. It's flimsy, but once attached serves it's purpose and looks good. I would recommend putting a couple of extra shelves in before attaching the back. This will keep the sides straighter which will help while nailing the back on. I also went to the local hardware store to get a few extra brads. Some packages came with too few, while some had too many. I laid the unit on it's face and nailed the bottom to the base. I then tipped it up and inserted quite a few shelves to keep all of the uprights straight. Next I squared the unit up - you can do this by measuring, but I used a carpentry square. The units aren't perfect so check both sides and average them. While holding this position I put a few brads into the top corners and the middle of the uprights. Just enough to keep the unit square and the uprights straight. I then tipped it back on it's face because it's much easier to nail the rest of the brads that way. Tip on nailing it - occasionally you will hit a shelf hole. You will feel this right away. Pull that brad back out and slide it up or down a little bit and renail. Also you will occasionally miss and be too close to the edges of the uprights. As soon as you feel the brad going in too easily pull it out and readjust the entry point and/or angle. Installing the back is the most difficult part of assembly, but with patience it looks great when finished. If you are placing these units on carpeting make sure to put the rear tack glides (feet) far enough from the back of the unit so that it won't rest on the tack strip under your carpeting. Otherwise it will be tippy, or need to be away from the wall. Feel the edge of your carpeting where it meets the wall. You should be able to feel the width of the tack strip. I installed my Tack glides about 3/4" from the rear of the unit and it worked great. The front guides (feet) can go as close to the front as you want.Lastly, I bought some angle brackets from the hardware store to attach the tops of the units to the wall. I screwed them into the side of the units and then set the units in position. Then mark the location on the wall of the hole. Pull the unit out and install wall anchors. Then attach the unit to the wall. This makes an incredibly solid installation. Enough that I'm not worried about a grandchild tipping the unit onto themselves. After installation I painted the brackets to match the wall (picture attached). You don't notice them. The plastic cable tie included didn't seem like enough to me.Overall I feel these units are a great value for the money and I would buy them again. I would absolutely give them 5 stars if the backs were a little easier to install and the parts didn't come covered in sawdust.

Good value overall

Great value before the tariffs kicked in. Easy to assemble other than the back panels - very tiny nails and lots of them, you'll get your fingers a couple times probably with the hammer.

Very nice for those of us who still have DVD collections

This arrived very well packed, and intact -- but this thing is HEAVY, so make sure you have it delivered to your house and not a PO Box... unless you're a weight lifter with a flat bed truck. This took me about four hours to assemble, but I'm a big guy and I've done this kind of thing before, so make sure you have a weekend free before you dig into this project. I'd recommend using a staple gun instead of nails on the backing to speed up the process as well as increase the durability. Also, don't attach the feet until after you've put the backing on -- that way you can line the back up with the floor without worrying about an overlap. Put all three back panels on at once and hold it in place with some painters tape before you staple it all in, and it should come out picturesque. One other really useful tool -- if you have an electric drill/screwdriver, use it for putting on the base's eight long screws and attaching the finished piece to the wall. One thing to note -- the shelves are solid wood, but shorter than you'd think. They don't touch the back of the case, so if you're planing on leaning flat photos on the shelves, they may fall back.I configured this for DVDs only, and I got five and a half shelves per column, so when you're arranging the shelf spacing, start at the top and work your way down, or you'll end up with a weird gap at the top instead of the bottom. I used the bottom space to store DVDs that were missing their original cases and were in jewel cases instead, as well as the DVDs I've bought from the Red Box over the years.Over all, I'm satisfied with my purchase. It looks like it will last at least 10 years, so I'd say it's worth the money. Oh -- it takes up a lot of space, so don't get the black one or your room will become noticeably darker. I'd recommend the Mocha. Also, check out the videos on this model -- there are a few on Youtube and Home Depot's website.

Bookcase came broken in several places

The box that this product came in was extremely heavy— which gave me hope that maybe the bookcase was well-made with sturdy materials. But upon opening and putting together the case, it appears that the material is cheap. Corners were worn on the wood, one plank came completely cracked (on both sides of the wood) and the finish on the wood was uneven and not well coated.ALSO. It’s crazy that this bookcase costed the way it did, when the manufacturers can’t even include a cheap hammer/screen driver in order to build the case. Make sure you have your tools ready and available if you buy this product. Instructions definitely could have been more user friendly too.All in all, don’t bother wasting your money on this product for the price. Find a better bookcase that’s worth it. Ridiculous.

seems sturdy, but many pieces are damaged

it was packaged nice, but many pieces arrived damaged as if assembly was attempted by someone else and then returned.
