Doesn’t connect to Google Home App
The power strip arrived on time and in great condition.I’m not happy with this product. It review and instructions say it’s easy to use with Google Home.I bought this for one reason, to power our Christmas tree 🎄 and power it on and off via google. I have a smart home system via Google and love it. However, this product does not connect to Google Home app.I followed all instructions perfectly, the device logs in well with the Smart Life app but when trying to find it via google home app it times out.I have very fast internet, I had the device sitting very close to the router for wi-if connection. Not happy!!!

Working great so far
Being new to the home automation scene, I was unsure whether these power strips would do what I needed. Essentially, I want our game/movie room to be hands-free using an Echo Plus device. Skip to the bottom if you just want the skinny on the strip. Here's what went down in the game room:(this assumes you've downloaded the SmartLife app and created an account, have an Echo Plus and the Alexa app)(1) Plug in strip, power it on.(2) Press, hold power button for 5 seconds (the button doesn't depress much, just listen for the click)(3) The strip will appear in the app after the pairing is complete (it may appear that the strip turns off during this but just wait until it cycles through to 100%. You may also see an error in the app. Just click 'Got It' and return to the main screen - it's likely been paired and will appear in the dashboard)(4) Click into the device and you can power on the entire thing or individual plugs. I'd also advise renaming the strip and individual plugs. Generally useful when synching with the Alexa app or if you have 1+ strips like I do.(5) Open the Alex app and add a device (I recommend using the discover method by going Devices > Add Device (+) > Other > Discover Devices (this way any updates you make to the plug or strip name will get pulled through again)(6) The Alexa app should find all the plugs and strips making them available to add to a group or routine.NOTE: Plug 5 of the strip will always be the entire bank of USB slots. You can't control these individually. After creating a Group called 'XBOX', I was able to create a routine in the Alexa app that turns on the TV, receiver, the Hue lights and *the plug* where the Xbox is plugged into the strip.IMPORTANT: It sounds like the Xbox One may have a built in surge protector so turning on the plug to the device (with Alexa) is NOT powering it on currently. This is no fault of the strip, but the XBox One. I'm currently researching if there are any settings that can be modified to get this working the way I want. Other groups and routines are powering on the devices (receiver, tv and lights) perfectly.Last note: Never completely turn off the strip through a group or routine. I chose to leave plug 5 (USB bank) always turned on or else the strip won't be able to respond to Alexa commands.Anything that was annoying? You have to set up a SmartLife account to use the app. The wifi pairing process could have been a little better. The instruction manual is choppy English with 2pt font and covers the setup of your Alexa or Google device in more detail than the pairing process for the strip. The app is fine and largely intuitive for configuring the strip and plug names.

Fire risk, doesn't work with google, waste of money.
I loved the 'features' of this item, the schedule, the ability (advertised) to work with my google home. However, the only feature that actually worked was the schedule and that was with the app for the item not with google at all. I tried probably 40 times to get the app to add to google, it pretended it did and then nothing would connect. I contacted their 'customer service' address repeatedly with no answer, I contacted google (who of course couldn't help me with a product that wasn't theirs, only telling me that the connection issue had to be updated through the devices app). The scariest part though is when I got a new desk and unplugged this strip from the outlet it was plugged into it was melted and brown. I had to replace the outlet, and I am not plugging this back in. Waste of money, and super dangerous. This had TWO items plugged into it, one USB cord and one plug. TWO items it has 4 outlets and 4 usb plugs and it melted and turned brown the plug and outlet with TWO items in it (and the outlet was only 'on' 6 hours a day). If you are using this regularly please please PLEASE check it and unplug it before your house burns down.

Shock / Fire Hazard!
I ordered one of these and couldn’t get it to turn on, so I told Amazon it was defective and they sent me a replacement, which had the exact same problem. Turns out the problem was that the power button on them is terrible, you have to press pretty hard at the very top of the button (I bought this one specifically because it was nicely angled to sit on a desk, but you can’t push the button at that angle, you have to press it exactly straight down and on the very back of the button). While trying to figure out why I couldn’t get them to turn on I plugged an outlet tester into it just to have something that would light up if I managed to get it. It lit up alright, to indicate that the outlets are wired backwards, with the hot and neutral swapped. This means that when you turn it off, instead of disconnecting the power coming in to whatever you have plugged in, it disconnects the power going out. This means that if something happens that presents a shock hazard (like sticking a knife in a toaster, for example) or a fire hazard (like if something shorts out inside the appliance) you would still get that shock or fire even though the outlet is “off”

Good concept but glitchy. Stopped working 1/9/20
UPDATE: Stopped working on 1/9 after power outage.Good concept with the combo and slanted plug as this was to sit on a mid shelf of a side coffee table. The outlets were tricky to insert plugs. I've tried several devices and it takes a few tries to plug then in - though it's easy to unplug. The USB charges and plugs in nicely. However, I couldn't charge my iPad and cell (Samsung wireless charger) simultaneously. The wireless charger kept beeping as it stopped and restarted charging. Not sure if there's a software fix since I haven't tried setting up the app.

Meh
Connected the power strip to 2G wifi, keep having connectivity issues. Instructions are very small. I got this power strip to put behind my bed to control bedroom lamps and phone chargers. It's in a highly inconvenient spot to get to for troubleshooting. If this continues I'll have to return.
