This is phospholipid based so plant based natural Vitamin C which, and this is my opinion only, the only type of Vitamin C supplement to take. I have long argued that ascorbic acid is not a true form of Vitamin C missing, as it does, the flavonoids (bioflavonoids) found in natural Vitamin C. It is commonly used as a food preservative but has none of the characteristics of plant based or 'real Vitamin C.

However, I do not know the origins of the ascorbate used in this product as it is not revealed on its label. It may be natural but could equally be from a laboratory. A definitive answer could be obtained from the manufacturer
