Unsure
Being that I couldn’t sleep tonight, I thought to write reviews on some of the many products I’ve bought from Amazon. Reviews are a big part of my decision making and I feel I’m an honest reviewer and not one to write negative just to be another hater or debater as I like to label the minority in our world. All of my reviews have been positive tonight, very positive in fact. (I have years of purchase reviews to catch up too 😇).On to the Geenie Hawk WiFi outdoor Smart camera... I bought it back in March and after initial setup mounting on my house to monitor my backyard, I had success with acceptable video on my phone/Geenie app. The next day the WiFi signal was lost and wouldn’t reconnect. I thought to be understanding of the fact that my modem was on the other end of the house with interior and exterior walls surely making it a tough ask without a WiFi extender installed. Being that it’s an outdoor unit with a very short power adapter I read the reviews and, as suspected, found in the questions and answers, one asking of a recommended extension cord. The response from the seller was, “Any outdoor extension cord will work”. I used a brand new well gauged and shielded outdoor extension I would trust for any outdoor usage. With work, children and other life things, I finally had a chance yesterday to take down the camera with the intention of mounting it on the house at the side the modem is located. In fact, just outside the exterior wall the modem resides at. With hopes of eliminating the extension cord I thought to mount it just outside the second floor nearest the modem as I have a window there which I could plug it into the outlet under the window inside (Nearest modem and shortest route to an outlet). I must add at this point that I took the added precaution upon initial install to put electrical tape covering well any seem from the adapters plug to the female end of the extension cord. I did this as I do yearly with my many outdoor Christmas lights and decor. The camera and it’s adapter power cord is rated as weatherproof as all outdoor electric often is yet, common sense tells us, no male adapter plug into a female extension is going to be completely sealed as it is two units, not one. I was very particular knowing that not only rain but, a moist humid morning could easily allow even a drop of water into and unsealed seam. Back to present and reinstalling nearer to modem and a closer indoor outlet. After unsealing the elctrical tape I immediately noticed a shade of orange on both the adapter and male plug prongs. Knowing it hadn’t rained aside from one day over a week ago, I was sure the unit was dry and safe to plug in to reestablish the WiFi connection then mount it outside the window. After many tries and even attempting to brush of the orange tinge with a soft old tooth brush, I now was becoming more confident was water erosion. I went through every direction and setup scenario including AP mode and holding the reset button sor a minute many many times. No matter what I tried I could not get the flashing red light that starts the initializing and WiFi/ app setup. I searched my many adapters in the house and though I found a couple that were,Output: 5v 1000 mAInput AC100-240V~50/60Hz none were 0.5A (Closest were 0.8A & 1A).This one aspect being off no mater how small, I did not want to risk damaging my camera (This hoping it’s only the male plug portion of that half of the power cord that’s damaged which after inspecting the other end (3.5mm) and finding no corrosion I believe to be true. With the discoloration not being as heavy as one may see in a battery or non outdoor electrical unit exposed to water I chose to investigate further. The amount of erosion after exposing the interior of the male end (I easily pried open with a small flathead screwdriver), was absolutely alarming considering it rained one day and the amount of care and precaution I took sealing the connection to the extension cord with electrical tape. The excluded photos show the extent of the erosion. Please understand, I’m not expecting a new camera, I don’t even know if there’s even an issue with it and truly doubt there is. I’m even willing to purchase a replacement adapter if I could so kindly be directed on where to order it or, a universal that will work. I don’t know if the 0.8A which is the closest as defined above is ok and would be happy to know if it is suitable. However I may get the camera adapter, direction to ordering a new original adapter or, direction to a universal adapter that will suffice. My next objective is to advise the maker and seller to inform the consumer of the potential issue of advising, “Any outdoor extension cord will work”. Prior to revealing the corrosion infesting the interior of the male end of the adapter, I inspected the entire end with high power magnification and found no cracks or defects that would allow moisture in. For an outdoor unit, 3-5 feet (I’m being generous with the 5 feet), are we supposed mount the camera within a few feet of a sheltered outdoor outlet or within a few feet of a window with an outlet just inside within the same specifications of a mere few feet? Why make the adapter end of the power cord the mere few feet it is? I’m not being rude yet, very confused as to why the one portion that is obviously not waterproof be designed without the length of cord we the consumer can keep it out of the elements and, furthermore, why not protect the integrity of the product in an otherwise decent line of WiFi smart devices?I consider myself a fair reviewer, do look for oneself at my reviews, they are all with a positive note and complimentary. I truly wish to rate the actual camera and revise my review if I can ever get it to work. I’ve shown to be willing to work with the WiFi distance issue (One I’ve found with half of the six Geenie smart bulbs I’ve purchased as well). There’s wifi extenders, moving bulbs closer and even the option of expanding one’s bandwidth which I’ve also done very recently to accommodate the additional WiFi devices from the Geenie line I’ve purchased. I have the black indoor WiFi camera installed in a window in the same room as my modem facing my front yard (Until I have resolve with the outdoor unit at hand I won’t spend another $70 on the Hawk, would anyone? Please work with me, someone obviously well willing to work with the seller, creator and/or be open to community responses/feedback.

2 Stars for Great Motion Detector
But the camera lasted about 18 hours before it would no longer go "on line" so we could access it. Fact that the RESET button is hanging outside the camera should have indicated to me to expect on-going or frequent connection problems. The motion detector was great while it worked, and the night vision was very good as well. Unfortunately, if we are unable to access the camera, neither of those things does us any good. Returned the product to Amazon.

Good camera but, Watch out for water getting inside.
Really good wireless camera that does what I hoped it would do. Only complaint is it isn’t as waterproof as I hoped. Water has gotten inside. After taking it apart and drying out, double checking the “water proofing” and reassembling, hoped it would not allow water inside. Once again water found it’s way in. Will try to build a water “cover” to stop water from entering the camera. Other than that, does what I want it to do.

Great price, great quality.
I bought this for my mom for Christmas. I have several indoor ones of this brand. The set up was easy and the quality was fantastic. Definitely a great value. The picture is clear and the night vision works great. She is able to view it on her Google home. It takes motion shots also, she is very happy with it.

Easy to use and great picture quality
I bought this camera to investigate what was damaging the skirting on my sheds. I was drawn to this product because of the smart phone integration and that it does not require a hub. It only took about 5 minutes to set up and the picture quality even with just standard definition exceeded my expectations, especially since I am using it in a totally dark area. The motion alert notification is prompt and touching it allows me to immediately see the live video feed, which means I am often able to see what caused the alert. Oh, in case you are wondering what is under my shed, in the last 24 hours i have seen a possum, a raccoon, and two cats. I am very pleased with my purchase, as I think I got my money’s worth in the entertainment value alone. It definitely meets my needs.Additional info: I have been using it for nearly 5 months now. I discovered that any problems with responsiveness were directly related to the quality of my wifi signal. I repositioned the camera so it would get less wifi interference and the camera works perfectly taking video and stills.

Bought this from Amazon in good faith
I purchased HD Hawkeye green outdoor camera in March and mounted it inside my house through a window looking out same to work fantastic when I first set it up I actually had an inside my house for several months before mounting it looking out a window it lost connection with the Wi-Fi and refused to reconnect upon contacting the manufacturer and June 21st here I am June 27th still waiting on a reply website that was given for a processing number was not large enough to obtain all the information that they ask for including pictures of the product so I had to send multiple emails and here I sit waiting for a reply for a broke camera that was sold by Amazon with good faith

Good looking camera...However...
Positives: I liked the software as it was the same as my indoor cameras. The cam does have a good pic and no difference between SD or HD mode. Negatives: The camera had a hard time staying online and was offline more than online. Even after I added a WiFi extender it kept dropping connection. I also didn't like how narrow the field of view was and prefer a wider angle. Had to send back for refund.
