This replacement disk drive works like the xbox is new! But t does take some work and some minor know -how to install, and there are a few great Youtube videos that walk you through it! The most difficult part is that The board from the old disk drive must be installed to the new disk drive and soldered to the motherboard to work properly . If you have a soldering gun , the right size screwdrivers and some patience... its not too bad

The Disc drive arrived undamaged, and was an exact replacement for my Xbox One (not an S or X). I followed a Youtube video for the replacement procedure and the new drive works great, without any error messages. You do have to unsolder two wires on the board in the disc drive, and this was mentioned in a note included in the packaging. This $30 disc drive saved me from buying a new Xbox. Total time from unplugging the Xbox from the TV to having the drive replaced was about an hour, as long as you are careful and have some basic soldering skills this is a DIY project.

DOA did not work at all! Was trying to fix Xbox one s before Christmas but no luck! Everything thing came but didn't work and was the wrong drive!

Replacement drive came with no instructions. I swapped it and it wouldn't read game discs. The system locked up on an update. I contacted Amazon and got another one on the way. After some research, I found out the circuit board must be swapped from your original drive to the replacement. I found instructions to do this online and did the swap. It completed the update and works well so far. My bad for not researching it first, but neither drive I received came with any instructions for the install. The sale page also does not specify that these are used drives they send. The whole debacle could have been avoided if they were more clear in the description of the item or at least sent some instructions with the drive. But at least it's working now.

You NEED to look up a tutorial on YouTube so you'll know what you're doing and a soldering iron for two small connections.If you are a DIY type of person it should be no sweat!Get a big open work space to lay things out where you can find them easily and keep distractions to a minimum of possible.Fixed it right before Christmas and it's been getting used HEAVILY since then with no issues. Would definitely recommend!!

Like the title says "Watch a YouTube video first". This was a simple job and only took about a half a beer to finish. The soldering was the hardest part but still a very simple process, I look like a hero to my kids, who can watch movies and play "disc" games again. Way worth the money, to the negative reviews about how it didn't fix the problem it's probably because you're daughter board is also broke.

If you follow instructions and install it properly it should work just fine. Not incredibly easy to install, but as long as you own a soldering iron, it's not that difficult.

Not OEM, requires removing the old chip from the existing disc drive and soldering it to the new disc drive. Works but will update review if it doesn’t last.
