This works for dog beds too
My poor dog developed some bed sores or pressure spots so I started lookin for some sort of bed for him. This inflates and I was worried it would be too big and not be able to fold once inflated. He used it for the last 2 weeks of his life and it worked amazingly. I know I’m not the only person who is looking for their dogs and wondering if this will work. It does. His spots were almost completely gone when he finally moved on from us. So the first photo shows the bed by itself. It’s fairly large probably 30” or so. The next photo shows the entire air mattress. It’s huge. But as you can see in the following photos it folds and you can make it into a small area in comparison to the actual size. It will bulk up from the multiple layers but if you keep it on the lowest setting and just fluctuate it a tiny bit up from there and back down throughout the day it is fine and helps the older dogs get that relief from their weight being pushed into something hard even a bed. The air allows them to relax their entire body so it was good for that as well. I almost used duct tape to hold this together in the right shape because it would have been easier to just have it in that shape without ever worrying about it coming apart. But it never did. I’d still recommend using duct tape if you want to use this Long term probably. Just loosely adding it so it stays in a square shape or whatever shape you need. It will still fully inflate and not unwrap as the air fills it up. I just know I’m not the only person looking for their doggy so I figured I’d make this review. I was lucky enough to have the TV stand right beside the plug or the air tubes. I simply tucked a big flat pillow between the wall and the bed so he couldn’t get wrapped into the cords. I hope this helps anyone out there who may need it.

Buy this, BEFORE you need it
My grandmother passed away in 2005 after a short bout with dementia.. She developed a Tunneling pressure sore that popped up, and "Tunneled" unbelievably fast. My parents asked hospice to put her on a version of this mattress, but it was too late by then.My father passed away after a long fight with Covid in March of this year. JUST as we thought he was going to pull through, the nurses at the care facility showed me a tiny pressure sore they had noticed on my father that day. The facility was more geared toward "Mobile Patients" that were going to go home again", so they didn't have the Pressure Mattresses... I ordered this mattress on our way back home while we were driving 5 hours, and I had it shipped to my Dad's house overnight, so another family member could drive it 5 minutes away to the care facility when it arrived... Through a series of dropped balls, the mattress didn't get placed under my father for several more days... while he was on this mattress, he wasn't "Squirming around in pain" any longer, but sadly his pressure sore had tunneled in the time between ordering the mattress and my family actually getting it to the care facility... The doctors performed debridement on the sore several times, and then advised us it was just staying ahead of them at that point... My father passed away a few days later. Now I'm full of "Should haves" and "If I had done____" thoughts, but the bottom line is this: I know how incredibly fast a septic sore can move, and he just wasn't placed on the mattress in time.. I have NO DOUBT that he'd still be with us if he'd gotten this mattress under him the very next day when the mattress arrived at his house. This is one of those things that you NEED badly by the time you realize you need one. The quality was much better than expected, and the shipping was "next day FAST". At the very least, it made his last few days MUCH more comfortable, which I'll always be grateful for.

Great value for a product that is helping!
I got this for my dad who was developing a pressure wound. We had tried a really thick, multilayered gel-infused cushion which wasn’t helping. When looking at more cushions we happened across this alternating air pressure mattress topper and figured we would give it a try. However, we weren’t sure if it would work because we planned to put it on my dad’s lift chair since that is where he typically sits and sleeps. So far it seems to be helping reduce the pressure and is helping! Although I found it comfortable (I couldn’t feel the air chambers alternating more/less pressure to the point where I tried it on the floor because I didn’t think it was working—but it was), my dad was fussing about it and said it was “hard.” I turned the dial from the highest setting to about halfway and that helped. The motor is really very quiet. Now the biggest issue is keeping it aligned on the chair. The chair is an XL and tall model from Golden Tech so it is bigger than the average recliner. One both sides of the cushion there is one “column” of the air pockets that I tuck between the seat and arms. I cut off the flat flap/end of the plastic that is supposed to tuck under the mattress because it was getting caught in the recliner foot/metal frame. I keep the bottom row of air pockets aligned with the end of the seat cushion. The other end just hangs over the top of the chair’s back (also the end the air tubes plug into the mat).Sometimes after awhile the cushion slides down almost to the floor, or it’s a little diagonal and one side is shoved down between the cushion/arm more than the other side—and I have yet to figure out what my dad does to make it “cattywampus”. I remedied that with a pair of nylon straps with heavy-duty Velcro (they came on a rolled-up IKEA mattress) that I wrap around the top and back of the chair. After awhile the straps got moved down to the base of the chair back/seat cushion, which actually keeps the air cushion aligned better than when the straps were higher.I’m glad we gave this a try because it is working for the same price (or cheaper in many cases) as another type of cushion that likely wouldn’t have worked. For the value and unique way it works, we recommend this product even though we had to be creative with it to work.
