Best dagashi so far
Awesome selection of products for the price! The package arrived well ahead of schedule. The treats were packed individually with care into a plain cardboard box, and all of them were fresh. I've tried other dagashi, and I was quite pleased with the variety of items, and the novelty of some of the more unusual ones. I found the initial taste of the pickled plum (umeboshi) to be god-awful. I mean seriously bad to my unaccustomed taste buds. It was sour and extremely salty and oh boy was it pungent! But I'd never leave a negative review just because I didn't enjoy the taste of a particular item that was foreign to me, and in any case, I finished the plum in spite of the taste. By the end, the taste actually sort of grew on me, and I've since ordered more umeboshi because of their purported health benefits. The only thing I couldn't finish was this stick of a blue jelly-like substance. One reviewer had said to put it in the fridge, which I did. It changed the consistency from gloppy to more firm and mucousy, like edible slime. The taste wasn't bad, but the texture was an epic fail for me. But even then I had fun with it. I'd been coercing my mother, who is very skeptical of anything new, to try some of the snacks with me. She was a good sport, even about the plum, but she flat-out refused to try the jelly once she saw the consistency, and actually ran away! I had a ton of fun chasing my 70-year-old mother through the house, wiggling the slime at her, both of us laughing, until she finally gave in and took a *tiny* bite. She didn't enjoy it any more than I did, of course, but I sure enjoyed watching her expressions! The description stated that you'll receive 34 items. Being a stickler for detail I carefully counted everything upon opening, and was pleasantly surprised to count 35. And aside from the jelly loogie (and the initial taste of the plum), I enjoyed everything. This selection had plenty of umaibo (those cheese-puff-like corn sticks, which I LOVE), and a few other things I'd had before like a chocolate-filled marshmallow puff which I also love, but plenty of new things I'd never tried. I enjoyed them all, and found some new favorites, like a macha tea biscuit which was just heavenly. (And incidentally, my mother really enjoyed the candy cigarettes, and even ate an extra one of her own volition! Yay mom! :D)And because of the quantity, I enjoyed almost a week of snacky goodness, which is quite a deal for the price I paid of $14.99 with free shipping. I'll definitely be purchasing this again, and I'd highly recommend this particular selection to anyone trying dagashi for the first time, as well as seasoned dagashi purchasers who might find something new in the mix, as I did. I've enjoyed every dagashi I've tried, but this has been my favorite so far, because of the perfect combination of familiar and new items. (I have yet to make a dagashi convert out of my mother, but I'm working on it! ;)

Sooooo good!
I must say that Japanese candy is some of the best candy I've ever had, maybe a few of the candies were not of our liking. But that is the cultural difference that made trying all these so much fun for us! My husband and I bought these and tried them for a christmas gift to ourselves. Most of the items are flavorful sweet candy that the Japanese seems to have gotten down to perfection! A few of the snacks even shocked us like the squid flavored item was very interesting. Some of the fish items were not. I can honestly say that if we liked those kind of flavors, then we would have liked the snacks because they were great versions of the fish, squid, and other like items.I highly suggest trying them if you are into great candy and interesting snacks! If you are going to have more than one person trying, I might suggest buying a bag for each person as some of this stuff was hard to share! We fought over who got to eat the rest of it.A quick note that when you get the box with what looks like lemons on it, when you try to take the paper off it rips into tiny pieces and won't unwrap. The reason is the wrapper is dissolvable and you pop it into your mouth, let the wrapper (which is pretty tasteless) dissolve and then eat that wonderful, sweet candy! It is their grapefruit! I HATE grapefruit with a passion and my husband hates it worse than I. However, this candy is beyond belief and so good I ended up buying a big box of it to come in time for my husbands birthday! I sure hope he'll share! I have never experiences a better candy in my life.I don't think any candy lover could ever go wrong buying this item! I'd buy it again and again and again.. but I don't think my dentist would like that. So for special occasions I will continue to buy some special treats from this company and these japanese candies.

pretty decent!
honestly this product was not bad at all. it had 34 pieces in total with many doubles but the doubles were always the opposite flavor which made it even better. i ordered it for me and my sibling to try and we weren’t disappointed. it had many different kinds of interesting snacks and we had fun trying them all. but in the package that i ordered it didn’t have the cigarette candy sticks and a couple of the snacks or candies that were displayed in the picture. i circled the ones that weren’t included in my package as you can see but we weren’t upset about that since there still was many other interesting snacks that we got to try.and i’ll give a little info on some of the snacks and what they are j in case someone was wondering because i also couldn’t read the labels since it was another language and was very surprised by some. the square little box with oranges on the front are surprisingly gum. it has 4 small gum balls inside. at first it may feel like chewy candy but it was gum. the rectangular shaped snack that had pink roses on them were like wafers with cream in the inside! and like it had two sticks that you had to break almost like a kitkat. and lastly the small red package with a little boy eating a cracker is flavored like lemon! the picture of the cracker is on the front and it’s 2 small pieces of them. and that’s it because i don’t wanna write too much. but i think you should get this! it’s really fun to try with kids or anyone really who enjoys surprises! :)
