Hilarious. Great cheep work around
My Shimano 600 from 1994 went out. 2 x 8 speed. Swapped these cheep things out hoping the would carry me over until I buy a new groupset. I'm not buying a new groupset now lol! They "work" great. But don't set your expectations to high. They do not function like normal shifters the break doesn't shift the gears. To which I say who cares. This is a great way to keep you bike going without hemeraging tons of money. They shift smooth enough.

These are great "brifters" and a great value
finally made the change to "brifters" and wasn't sure I'd like them so I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case I removed them. Well I like them a lot. Very pleased. They shift crisply and cleanly and I'm very glad I bought them. I highly recommend if you're not name brand conscious.

Still good after several months of riding
I used these to complete a very heterogeneous 8-speed shimano groupset--old 105s from the 90s and a 9 speed dura ace chain--on a vintage steel bike frame. The very low price and feedback other reviewers led me to believe that these would soon fail on me. But the material build quality does not seem actually different from entry level Shimano Claris. Getting the shifter cables in is a bit trickier--generic ones work fine--but the shifting has actually been perfect. No complaints so far.

Great
Put them on my trek 1400 rebuild, work great, very smooth. I like them better than Shimano STI.

Better than my original Shimano 105's!
I replaced my malfunctioning18 year old Shimano 105 brifters with these from Micronew, which seem to be rebranded Micro Shift brifters. They work flawlessly....very positive shifting! Some have complained about the pronounced "click" as one shifts, but I find it reassuring as it indicates a positive shift. The two paddle system is more intuitive than Shimano's downshifting by pressing the brake lever; it also allows easier shifting while braking. The paddle throw seemed a bit excessive as I was manipulating it while the bike was in the stand just after mounting the brifters, but on the road it feels fine. If you're looking for great 8 speed brifters at a bargain price (they also have 7 and 9 speed), check out Micronew.
