Useful product, a good value given you can fix its design flaws
Purchased this unit to tweak my spectrum (mainly room resonances). The unit fitted my needs to the glove in many respects that are unique to my setup. I will not address these issues as they are not relevant to most other potential buyers.First task was to deal with the glaring potentiometers sliders...people complained about these justifiably; they prevent getting close to the unit to look and modify at their position....This issue however is easy to deal with in more than one way. I took the quick one and just used a small brush and a tiny amount of black acrylic paint. Took me 20 minutes. See results in photo. Not perfect but it makes it possible to start working on the instrument. Only people that have seen these blinding lights will appreciate it…The spectrum screen is another issue that could have been dealt with in a better way; It would have been more useful to get readings of the active source (DVD, Tuner, etc.) with larger legends on the expense of the spectrum that has virtually zero value (well, unless it helps one realize that one is are driving the system into saturation… but then again you need to be deaf not to heat that coming anyhow...)Now we come to the real stuff: sound. I prefer to come to this issue after few more weeks of use. That will also give me time to do some measurements. My ears tell me that the sound is at least acceptable and the controls are responsive. Note that these smallish sliders must be dealt carefully; a small shift of position makes a big change in volume of the channel and it may take a person a very long time to get things to one's liking to compromise 21 channels...Note that the travel range of the slides is very small (1"-0.4" which is the handle size...) meaning that one mm will cahnge the amplitude of the signal of the given band by 1-2dB... This should not be a problem for anyone that uses the instrument for tweaking the tonal balance of once stereo system and KEEP it there. If you want to use it for cahnging each time you hear a piece of music stay away from this product. The unit comes with side flanges to help you install it on a rack. Don't fool yourself that this means you can take it on the road. This unit is good (even very good) if you just use it as a fine tuner of the frequency response and as a switching hub for the sound sources hooked to your ampl.Sound:This piece of electronics has no sound of its own, the sound quality is mainly controlled by the quality of the speakers, sound source (including the recording quality), and your ears...An equalizer may indeed make it worse. Fortunately it is neutral in this regard. It is also effective in adjusting frequency response as lond as you only need small changes. It adds no noise or hum that you can hear.I mainly use it to tame room resonances (in the 40-100Hz range).Once you kill the blinding intenisty of the blue LED's on the slides (see above), this unit is really worth its price.

Undecided
Connected the unit to my stereo equipment this weekend. Plenty of features, you can connect a tape deck, dvd, cd, mp3 etc... and it does what it is supposed to do for an equalizer. It does enhance the sound of your music. However........very cheap quality. I do recommend you wear a pair of sunglasses when you are fine tuning the settings to your taste in music/sound. It's kind of like looking at the sun on a bright sunny day. I could not look directly at the blue LDE's because they actually hurt my eyes. Don't get me wrong the unit actually does what it's suppose to do. I just wish there was a way to turn down the brightness and the build quality was better. Might return it, not sure yet.

Glitz and glamour junk
First and foremost the lights on each of the controls are so bright it will give you a headache and will keep you from seeing what settings you're making with the sliders you just won't be able to see the numbers behind them and even if you do the controls make very little difference from zero to Plus or zero to minus settings you really have to crank it all the way up for the difference to be apparent. This is plastic and shiny and sparkly and will certainly attract people who are into that but if you want to quality product this is not it.

No different than the models half the price
I was wrong to purchase this model. Other EQs with the identical form factor were on Amazon for considerably less money. For double the cost I assumed the spectrum analyzer would do more than flash. Its utterly useless and has zero technical merit.Another design issue is the brightness of the LEDs. They may be small but they are OVERLY BRIGHT. there is no reason these should be this bright, they are painfull to look at and are so bright you CANNOT use the scale at all as its impossible to see it.A third issue is that there seems to be false parametric eq effect on the high and low ends. Further, the 6 and 8 khz pots are way too sensitive. This is not a good product for the price.
