A forever EDC emergency fire start
Perfect replacement for that useless toothpick. I don't smoke so I don't carry disposable lighters with me, and I don't want to put disposable lighters in an EDC or emergency kit in case they break or the fluid evaporates and then the day you need them you don't have them. This solves that cuz this will last forever.

Great but a little loose in the scale slot.
These are great but run a little small as far as fit in the scale. Had to add a tiny paper sleeve to fit snuggly.

It is thin and will break. Make sure you have a backup and learn how to use it properly
Used one for the first time using my saw blade on my victornox. After applying enough pressure to get a decent spark. It broke. WELL. After learning how to use it properly. ( look for best ways to use). Itβs a great product

Will still work for the smaller knives
Ordered these by mistake. My fault. After struggling to get the miniβs (they would arrive taken out of the package as a single and each time broken because of it (thanks Etsy). I measured the toothpick and broke off the extra length. While itβs a tight fit, they do fit, and the extra little piece of nylon grip that sticks out, helps to pull it out of the knife pocket. Perfect for backpacking.

These are not flint
Received the Firefly ferro rods for my Swiss Army Knife, Huntsman. Very nice, it has been much fun practicing with it.FYI, the text on the package is incorrect, it reads βSuperior quality flintβ, truly this is not flint. Folks think a ferro rod is flint, it is not. Flint, more common in the USA is Chert, is an inert stone; itself cannot spark. Flint/Chert is used for striking and scraping the steel in the flint and steel technique. Using the flint on high carbon steel produces hot shards flying from the steel producing sparks. The flint itself does not spark, it cannot, only the steel produces sparks. Firefly, although an outstanding ferro rod for the Swiss Army knife, absolutely is not a flint, more it is as the steel. Reason I mention this is quite often I am reading posts calling ferro rods flint; quite incorrect. Many folks do not understand the concept of flint and steel nor ferro rod and striker.

Junk
Breaks so so easily. They say not to use your knife blade since it will dull your knife but thatβs the only way to get a spark is with a very sharp edge. Also if you return it they will charge you $16 in shipping. Skip buying this junk

Works Very Well
As other reviewers have noted, these are very fragile. Slice a piece of wood, popsicle stick sized, and support it. Itβs very soft because it throws a ton of sparks. If you have trouble with Ferro rods, this will if that. Use the backing the saw blade with a Huntsman snd you would be hard pressed not to get a fire going in 2 minutes. Collect a few pieces of fat wood in an old mint tin. A small piece cut into a feather stick will catch on the first or second strike.
