Speedy Charge
My daughter forgot her "real" HP charger at home when she went back to college, so I needed to get one to her asap before her computer died. I had previously looked at purchasing this one as a backup anyway, but didn't because some reviews talked about how hot it gets. Since Amazon could get this to her sooner than I could ship her the one I had, I took my chances and ordered it but warned her to pay attention if it was getting hot. It's only been a few weeks but she used this every day and it did not get hot at all. So far the quality seems amazing, but if the cord starts to unravel or there are issues I will update this review. She was home this past weekend and brought it with her and I personally left it plugged in over night to see if it got hot, and it did not. Even if it only lasts a year, at this price it was well worth it and I'd purchase it again.

I was please with this charger at first...after 5 months, that changed
This charger worked perfectly when I received it in late September 2024, and it was fine for the next five months. After that, I noticed that the "plugged-in" icon was not displaying and of course,my laptop was not charging. I discovered that the problem is with the USB Type C connector where it meets the slot on my laptop: I can no longer simply plug it in and expect to have a connection—it now has to fit just so. I'm confident that I did not cause this issue: I have always been careful with how I handle and carry the charger.I found a solution but it's inconvenient: I discovered that I can put a small object—a hard plastic eyeglasses case--under the cord and slowly move it toward the laptop until, with a little luck, the icon displays. However, sometimes it takes up to two minutes or so to achieve the connection. And because I always put my laptop away each evening, I must go through this process every day, when I want to use the laptop.

Does the job so far.. Couple of weeks. Too soon to talk about quality. It properly powers and charges the battery in a Thinkpad X1 Carbon.
