Excellent piece of kit and amazing value
Was sceptical for the price but the quality of the drill and tap in particular seemed very good.I used this to repair the thread on an aluminium petrol disc cutter engine as the thread for one of the exhaust bolts was worn. This worked brilliantly and was very easy to use. Even the case is nice quality. All in all I'm extremely pleased with the purchase.

Excellent helicoil kit, superb quality.
Superb quality and very easy to use. Very sharp drill bit and tap. I purchased separately some V-coil M6 1mm 3D helicoils to use with this kit, these cost about £4 for 10.These are very good quality and easy to install. Take your time, I used some cutting oil and thoroughly cleaned swarf away as I went along.Make sure that the newly cut thread is nice and clean before carefully inserting the coil using the tool provided. The coil will obviously extend in length slightly when installed, so ensure you cut a deep enough thread. I should also mention that it's always a good idea to run one of the new coils on to the bolt you intend to use before starting. Once these coils are wound in, you don't want to attempt to wind then out again. Last thing you need to do, is break off the tang with the tool provided. Very easy to do. You will need a suitable tap wrench which isn't included in the kit.

Cheap helicoil sets that do the business
Use these regularly at work due to the ham fisted colleague’s that I work with stripping threads in our aluminium parts. Quickly drill out, tap screw in the insert and jobs a good one, like new again. Couldn’t live without it.

Almost excellent, include a tap handle and it would be.
I recently had a serious failure on my handcycle when the derailleur caught on the spokes (it was loose) and ripped itself out of the frame, stripping the thread as it did so. As derailleurs are 10mm with a 1mm thread, care has to be taken when ordering a helicoil kit, as most of the 10mm versions come in 1.25 or 1.5mm thread versions.I went for this one thinking of German engineering, paying a bit more than I could have. It arrived fairly promptly and did the job reasonably well, with one issue. The tapper has a square head and no handle. I tried a couple of alternatives, but couldn't get it to tap with a mole wench or pliers, it just wouldn't sit flat. I can't understand why they couldn't include a two handled tap head. Eventually I opted for a battery drill on very low speed, reversing every half turn.Ultimately the repair seems very good. The helicoils are great and the one I fitted seems to be staying put well. If I have any issues or ever had to do this again, I'd include some epoxy to ensure that the helicoil has no risk of coming out.So if you're in need of a derailleur mount repair AND have a tap handle, this is a great kit.

Perfect tool for repairing a cross-threaded oil filter housing
A quality product from a quality tool manufacturer. Tap is made in Germany and was super sharp. Was able to tap and repair my oil filter thread on my motorcycle with complete success. I did however use longer v-coil inserts (2.5D) than the ones included as the screws are quite long. Just be aware it doesn't contain a tap holder and as such you may need to purchase one separately.

Perfect for automotive use
A thread had been mangled by a 'mechanic' replacing a rusty fine thread bolt on my valve cover with a coarse thread bolt.Quite nervous about drilling and tapping a hole I prepared by watching a few YT videos soni had an idea of what to do and what I might need to Helicoil the hole.Opening the pack it looked simple, but the sticker (in German) with some sort of award was reassuring. Likewise the fact it came with instructions in clear English was fantastic. The drill bit was sharp, and carved through the head of the engine cleanly, I then washed out the award with some WD. The tap was. Different matter. Not having a tap set for anything else I had to improvise. Luckily I had a socket set I could invert to Jimmy rigg a tap handle, with a set of vice grips to turn the tap.The tap was very sharp and cut easily into the engine block, leaving an nice clean thread. Again, washed out the award with WD.The helicoil installation was an absolute breeze. Put the coil on the tool, gently engage the threads and twist in. Bash out the tang with the provided punch.Fit new fine thread bolt. Done. Couldn't be easier!Highly recommend!
