I installed this on my 2018 CX5 two weeks ago, and it works great so far! Apple CarPlay takes about 15-20 seconds to boot up after I start the car, and with the wireless version, I don't have to do anything. It will automatically connect via Bluetooth, so it's definitely worth it! I didn't want the hassle of always having to plug in my phone.I used the included foam tape to wrap both wires together, and it kind of started to unpeel itself in some spots, especially while under the warm sun, while I was taking the trim off of my dash in preparation for the installation. I don't hear any rattling, though, so I'm not concerned. The wires were just long enough to reach from the aux unit under the cup holders, past the passenger side of the gear shifter, the left passenger footwell panel, and up to the infotainment screen. I think the genuine Mazda wires are longer and more forgiving. It worked nonetheless, and I was able to secure everything with zip ties.The car feels brand new with Apple CarPlay! If you feel hesitant, just look up a few YouTube videos and give it a shot. You don't have to pay a dealer $500 for this service. Updating the firmware was more annoying than installing this! (If you didn't know - you HAVE to have a version newer than 59.xx.xx.xx installed BEFORE you install this part!! Look up a YouTube video for how to do this.)

This gave me carplay functionality in my 2015 Mazda 3 i GT. Installation will be basically identical with any of these, which is to say not too difficult. I've had it a few weeks now and have no complaints that could be the fault of this unit.Some installation advice if you get this:Don't disregard the foam pads you get. I noticed a bit of rattling near the shifter, even though it was zip-tied to other wires, and had to remove that part of the trim again to use the foam on them.Spend a minute or two flattening out one of the cables, just ~2 feet, or alternatively use a different cable all together. Feeding the wire from the nav unit down to the footwell genuinely was the hardest part. You can tie the other cable to the flat one once you've routed it through and pull it down further.Take your time, get an $8 trim removal kit, and enjoy saving a ton of money.

Make sure your infotainment is updated to at least v 70 before installing the new USB hub. Install itself took about 90 minutes at a slower pace and basic tools. Note for those installing in the Mazda3: some YT videos have you removing the entire center console to be able to get to the old USB hub. This is not necessary. You can pull off the face plate of the old hub with a metal pick tool, exposing the 4 clips of the hub. CAREFULLY drill out the clips with a 1/8" bit, and the old hub will slide out, saving you 2 hours.Item quality is on par with the OEM unit. Just plug in and select CarPlan/Android Auto for the Applications menu and you're good to go.

The product is good. But just be very careful if you try to update the software/firmware on your car. If you do it wrong, you may have to replace the entire CMU, which cost us $1650… so I recommend that you pay a dealer to update the software/firmware, and then you can install this without worrying about any problems…HOWEVER… (and this is not really mentioned in the instructions), you will have to disassemble both your dashboard and your center console in order to install this device. And this requires some special tools in order to remove the dashboard cover, so if you’re not willing to take your car apart in a large way, and buy special tools, you might wanna just hand this off to a dealer and have them install it, which is what we did… after ruining the CMU and paying for a new one. It's perfect. Got this for my wife 2018 Mazda 3 after the dealership wanted $500 and 4hrs to do it. I purchased this and after a few YouTube videos to update the software and install this, it took about 3hrs. Everything works great. I ended up buying a Apple Wireless USB connector and everything still works great.

It works great. Upgrading from version 59 to 70 was easy and took less than 40 minutes. Support was immediate, including sending the update files.MAZDA CX5 TOURING WITH BOSE SYSTEM 2017

Works great. Didn’t try the software update recommendations it came with, instead went with an external source prior to physical install.

Update: Original review below. So I decided to troubleshoot and double check that everything was updated properly and installed correctly. After confirming that I read on a forum that doing a quick reset of the computer system could help and that seems to have fixed my issue. I would still warn the customer to be cautious when purchasing but for now it is working. Will update if it fails again.Installed this right after I recieved it and it worked for one week, and now it won't activate Android Auto. It also froze the main system which I had to reset. Buyer be warned.
