READ THIS BOOK!

Everyone should take the time to read this book. The information and understanding of how we travel on the path into disease and then back is informative and enlightening. You don’t have to travel that road. I recommend this book to everyone.

Fantastic book on sound healing

I loved this book and feel inspired and supported as a sound healing facilitator. A solid read with many examples of the benefits of sound and ways to put it into practice. Will be working with the provided exercises.

Using sound for healing

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested sound healing in addition to traditional medical care for healing the body. I found it to be very accessible.

Dr. Gaynor is much more than a Medical Doctor!

I write few reviews. However, I felt that I should write something about this great book and author. It is hard to find a Western-educated doctor who has examined the Eastern (Chinese TCM) and Indian (Ayurvedic) Medicine in such detail and combined them in a beautiful and scientific way.I read the book in one and a half day with great interest. Easy reading and understandable book written for a layman like me.I also ordered his other book "Sounds of Healing: A Physician Reveals the Therapeutic Power of Sound, Voice, and Music" and will start reading as soon as I receive it.Dr. Gaynor's book is full of gems for those who are interested in sound and music healing for themselves and others. You will find where the Western medicine still fails to address, especially in the field of energy medicine and why many people suffer while simple therapies are available. Those who have health issues may find some case studies that may help in recovery.I will keep this book as a reference book and hope that it will stay readable after many highlighting and notes of mine.I plan to order any future books written from Dr. Gaynor.

Great book with one flaw

Kudos to Dr. Gaynor for not being threatened by the vast majority of the medical profession who think that anything outside of conventional healing (or lack thereof) is "woo." (By the way, the word "woo" is a short way of saying, "I haven't a clue what s/he's on about and haven't got the slightest inclination to find out because I lack the intelligence to do so.")So why four stars instead of five? Because I don't like examples of "patients" being used to illustrate a point of view or result and then read this in the disclaimer:"The patients whose stories I have told in this book have given me consent to use their clinical histories. To protect their privacy I have changed names, transposed events, merged the stories of different people and altered identifying characteristics."I get that privacy is important, and changing names and a minor detail or two will ensure privacy is protected (for example, changing Mary Smith, an airline pilot with melanoma to Frank Irwin, a lawyer with melanoma) however, merging stories and transposing events, as well as changing names and altering identifying characteristics, simply serves to create a FICTITIOUS account of how sound has healed. That is not acceptable to me and makes me wonder what else has been changed, transposed, merged or whatever in order to make a good story - including whether the patients were in fact alive so many years on, as stated. In the case of this book, I will attempt to overlook this as the work is exceptional and attests to the fact we are all "trapped consciousness" and capable of taking control of our healing.

This doctor gets it

This book is a gem. If more doctors of western medicine embraced the need for holistic healing and compassion alongside allopathic approaches, it would transformational. And this was exactly why I decided not to pursue medicine when I was younger: because I wanted to help people HEAL.

Excellent comparison to several of the topic books on Amazon

Excellent comparison to several of the topic books on Amazon. He was thorough in explaining historical references to sound and song as healing. He gave credit to several cultures and their use of sound. His knowledge of mantras, chants, chakras was impressive. Best overall description of entrainment that I have read. An excellent reference for academic work while maintaining a balance of informative and entertaining reading. I am using his book for a workshop to introduce music as a form of healing for people suffering from chronic disease, stress or pain.

Didn’t give me the information I thought

The title is a tad misleading! I read it anyways because I love to read about others reasons etc.
