Favorite flashlight
If you asked me about my favorite flashlight 3 years ago, I would've thought you were nuts. Favorite flashlight? What's the difference? But I love this little guy. I have bought 3 of them, all still working perfectly. I purchased one for use when camping or hiking on the forest at night. On the first night, my companions kept remarking how bright the white light was and they wanted the link to buy one just like it. The colored lights are also brilliant and useful for their purpose. The red, for example, reduces the distance from which others can see your light and it and the green both keep you from losing your eyes' adjustment to the dark while providing plenty of light for illuminating your path. The blue light functions as a black light. They are all strong and vivid lights. The flashlight is durable and has been through all sorts of weather conditions and dropped on all sorts of terrain. Still looks and functions like it's new. It is the perfect size to fit comfortably my hand or in my pocket (I am a woman; I mention this because generally our palm and pocket sizes are both less generous than men's).When the batteries are getting close to dead, you will notice the light is dimmer and eventually it may switch from one color to another without you pressing the button. This seems to be common with this type of flashlight so I'm not treating it as a fault or flaw; instead I take it as a "low battery" indicator and change asap. That said, with name brand batteries, I can usually get through 1-2 weekend trips without changing batteries, which I feel is very reasonable.Edit: After leaving this review, my first of the three flashlights stopped working. To be fair, I have dropped this thing many times in all kinds of conditions and it's gotten hundreds of hours of use over the last 3 years. So still a 5 star flashlight in my book, especially for under $20. I bought another one.

Uses 3 AAA batteries, 1 watt each, 100 lumens each, total output 300 lumens
(1)If you leave a color on for more than 5 seconds, then the next time you press the button to turn it on, you will get the same color.(2)If you leave a color on for less than 5 seconds, then the next time you press the button to turn it on, you will get the next color (white, then blue, then green, then red, then white).(3)If the 3 AAA batteries get weak, then the red color will start flashing but the other 3 colors will function normally.(4)Slide the flashlight's head in and out to adjust from a wide, circular beam to a narrow, square beam. For all Chinese-made LED flashlights assume 100 lumens per watt.1 AAA battery uses 1 watt and radiates 100 lumens.1 AA battery uses 2 watts and radiates 200 lumens.1 rechargeable flashlight battery usually uses 20 watts and radiates 2,000 lumens. This flashlight, which uses 3 AAA batteries, radiates 300 lumens.Although not bright enough outdoors during daylight hours, in a dimly lit or completely dark room, this flashlight is borderline too bright.Fear for your eyes if any LED flashlight radiates more than 300 lumens!

An insomniac's favorite flashlight!
I cannot sleep all night and and up and down all night. With this in a color (I usually use green), it wakes up no one! My wife never knows when I get out of bed in the middle of the night because when I go back to bed, I wear a CPAP unit and I have to see to get it on and it never wakes her!

Received with poor brightness
I recieved this flashlight, put in a 18650 battery, and was immediately disappointed in the brightness of the beam for any color. So I tried a new fully charged battery. Same result.I proceeded to remove the ring over the plastic lens by turning counterclockwise. I then removed the lens and o-ring. Inside, surrounding the LED is a threaded assembly that can be loosened using a spanner wrench. It took some force, but once loosened, the assembly can be spun off the flashlight body, revealing a printed circuit to which the positive battery terminal would connect. That can be carefully pried out, and on the reverse side will be 1) wires that connect to the LED, and 2) the control circuit which changes the current flow between led segments (colors). On the printed circuit board was a faulty R068 i.e. 0.68 ohm surface mount resistor which controls the maximum current to the LED segments. The printing on the board suggests a 0.5 ohm resistor. I replaced it with that value. Please note that the original value resistor will have near 1 ampere current flowing with a 4.2 or 4.5 volt battery, so a 3/4 watt to 1 watt resistor rating is necessary. With the 0.5 ohm value I measured over 1.2 Amps. The light after repair works great. I suspect the original component may have been stressed as it measured over 1 ohm before replacement.

A cool toy!
Our 9 year old grandson thought this was a really cool gift. Loved that it was a flashlight AND it changed colors. The colors were very bright.Note batteries needed.
